Best Bet:
Race 5 No. 4 Proved
The daughter of Time Test arrives here unbeaten including in two starts over this distance in her first prep.
The filly broke her maiden at Moe in November and she duly followed up when contesting a Class 1 conditions event at Moonee Valley the following month.
The selection was given a break subsequently and dropping back to 1010m she resumed with a victory by nearly a length at Sale last month.
The four-year-old jumped at $1.30 for that Sale contest with all three of her efforts to date coming on the good going expected for this event.
Trainer Enver Jusufovic’s representative shaped as if there’s plenty more to come when winning last time and his representative looks capable of maintaining her unbeaten record jumping from barrier two.
Value Bet:
Race 7 No. 7 Brave Eight
The son of Toronado placed second in two of his first three career starts including when beaten just under one-and-a-half-lengths at Echuca in August.
The four-year-old raced over 1618m when partnered by Billy Egan in a maiden held on a good 4 surface.
The gelding raced on the pace that day and he was ridden positively to break his maiden when stepped up to 2200m for a soft ground maiden at Bendigo in August.
The runner-up in that Bendigo contest has won twice since including at metro level and the pick arrives here on the back of a second in a 1300m jumpout at Bendigo last month.
Ethan Brown, on board for his maiden win is again set to ride and dropping in distance he looks value to salute from barrier six.
Market Mover:
Race 1 No. 3 Killarney
John Leek Jr’s gelding has registered some good placed efforts over a variety of distances in his fifteen race career to date.
The five-year-old placed third when beaten two-and-a-half-lengths when racing over this course and distance for the first time at the end of last month.
The gelding kept on nicely that day and he has attracted early support with Neds ($2.50-$2.25).
Stats Say:
Jockey Damian Lane boasts an impressive 26% strike-rate (61/236) when riding for the Mick Price & Michael Kent Jr stable.
They team up with Understudy in the third race of the day, one of five rides on the card for Lane.
The New Zealand-bred gelding debuted with a second in his homeland in January last year while he finished sixth of twelve over 1300m on his debut for current connections in October.
The son of El Roca returns from a spell here and has made three starts in jumpouts at Cranbourne ahead of his return to action.
