Morphettville provides South Australia's Saturday racing action on October 31, with a nine-race program offering plenty of opportunities to find value away from the major spring carnival meetings interstate.
Several runners arrive with stronger form than their recent finishing positions suggest, while favourable draws, fitness improvement and changes in distance could prove important across the card.
With many of spring's biggest races still to come, the

Morphettville Value Bets - Race 2 No. 10 Noah's Ark & No. 12 Touch Of Fire
Two runners appeal at each-way odds in Saturday's Morphettville maiden, with Noah's Ark and Touch Of Fire both bringing encouraging debut performances that suggest they are capable of breaking through in a race lacking obvious depth.
There was enormous merit in Noah's Ark's first appearance at Murray Bridge in July, with the gelding heavily supported before standing flat-footed in the barriers, conceding a substantial start and subsequently charging home along the inside to finish third, recording the fastest closing sectionals of the meeting.
That form has since produced five winners, while his disappointing second appearance on Heavy ground on August 12 is worth forgiving after he was found to be suffering from colic, and an encouraging October 22 trial under Jake Toeroek, who retains the ride, suggests he is ready to produce a stronger fresh performance.
Touch Of Fire also warrants consideration at bigger odds, having finished fourth on debut on October 11 after jumping well but being forced towards the rear from a difficult barrier, leaving himself too much ground to recover before finishing strongly along the inside and through the line.
The Ken Mooney-trained gelding had completed only one trial beforehand and should benefit considerably from that first race-day experience, while the improved draw in barrier four gives Campbell Rawiller more options.

Morphettville Best Bet - Race 5 No. 3 Extra Fling
There were excuses for Extra Fling's disappointing first-up performance at Balaklava on October 14, with the lightly raced gelding covering additional ground before recording a slow recovery, suggesting he is capable of considerably better second-up.
The David Jolly and Justin Potter-trained four-year-old had shown genuine ability during his initial preparation, beginning with a solid debut at Balaklava before producing a dominant maiden victory over 1100m at Strathalbyn on June 8 in a race that rated strongly for the program.
Todd Pannell partnered him in both appearances and returns to the saddle on Saturday, with barrier two providing an opportunity to secure a much more favourable passage than the gelding enjoyed at his resumption.
The addition of a tongue tie for the first time is another interesting adjustment, while Extra Fling has already shown he can perform on both Good and Soft ground, making him a versatile prospect in a relatively modest metropolitan Benchmark 62.
There is also encouragement in the stable's recent results, with Jolly and Potter preparing eight winners from 31 starters this season, including three winners and three placegetters from 11 October runners, and with Extra Fling retaining considerable upside, he looks well placed to return to winning form.

Morphettville Next Best Bet - Race 7 No. 8 Shadow Eagle
Consistency has been a hallmark of Shadow Eagle's performances throughout 2026, with the Byron Cozamanis-trained gelding finishing inside the first five in all eight appearances since a disappointing January 31 outing.
The four-year-old secured a deserved breakthrough for the preparation when scoring decisively at Murray Bridge on October 3, with apprentice Brooke King taking the ride and remaining aboard for his subsequent Morphettville appearance on October 17.
There was arguably even more merit in that latest performance, with Shadow Eagle encountering interference at crucial stages before finishing third, leaving the impression he could have gone considerably closer with clear running.
That effort also provided valuable experience over 1600m, and with the gelding now fitter third-up after resuming over 1050m before jumping straight to 1400m second-up, there could be further improvement available over Saturday's mile assignment.
King's 2kg claim reduces his impost to 56kg and barrier four gives the pair every chance to settle favourably, with Shady Thinker remaining the obvious danger after some frustrating recent defeats, and he can be saved on if the track stays dry.
Dave Loy Handicap Tips (Race 8)
Morphettville Roughie - Race 8 No. 7 Rousing Refrain
A significant rise in distance third-up could bring about a much stronger performance from Rousing Refrain, whose better efforts have generally come over longer trips and against opposition stronger than he faces in Saturday's Benchmark 62.
The John O'Connor-trained gelding showed promise after breaking his maiden earlier this year, subsequently contesting a Listed race over 1800m at Morphettville and producing two competitive metropolitan performances in stronger company than this.
His 1100m resumption at Murray Bridge was never likely to suit, particularly on testing ground and in an inferior section of the track, while he showed more encouragement when finishing behind the dominant Artistic Genius at Morphettville on October 17.
Although unable to threaten the winner on that occasion, Rousing Refrain produced the second-fastest final 200m of the entire meeting, suggesting he is approaching peak fitness and will appreciate stretching out to 1511m on Saturday.
Caitlin Tootell retains the ride after enjoying a profitable association with O'Connor this season, producing four winners from 16 starters at a return on investment exceeding 171%, and while barrier 14 looks concerning, Rousing Refrain has previously looked most effective when building momentum to the outside.
