Race 1 - 12:15PM TAB We're On Tips (1000m)
8. Ladhar could be an improver first-up, the Godolphin filly having been green on debut at Caulfield earlier in the season when uncomfortable in restricted room before being spelled after that Listed attempt.
Both trials leading into Saturday’s return have been sound, including a Cranbourne heat win on February 9 under Damien Lane, who sticks for this fresh engagement.
5. Jacaranda brings the best recent form, finishing a competitive fifth-of-16 in the Inglis Millennium at Randwick, which followed a dominant Seymour debut victory.
1. Harry Met Sally is a big price, having never figured on debut in October before being spelled and gelded, then recording the fastest last 200m of the Pakenham meeting on February 12.
9. Nikitria must be respected with the Clinton McDonald stable absolutely flying.
Selections: 8-5-1-9.
Race 2 - 12:45PM Rubaroc Handicap Tips (1200m)
2. Dirty Grin shapes as the each-way play in an even contest, having been completely unsuited by the race shape at Caulfield last start.
While proven at 1400m, the overall profile suggests sprint trips suit better, with five of his six wins coming between 1100m and 1200m, and he ran well up the straight prior to that latest seven-furlong attempt.
1. Rue De Royale does not win out of turn but is racing consistently deep into the prep, with his best recent efforts all coming up the straight, including a last start where he looked to have it shot to pieces before being grabbed in the last stride.
4. Call Him Iggy could be a bolter, having won fresh over this trip previously despite later getting over further, and his February jump-outs without race-day blinkers have been solid.
9. Wolfy generally improves with a run but is a dual straight-track winner and more than capable at this level.
Selections: 2-1-4-9.
Race 3 - 1:20PM Good Friday Appeal Plate Tips (1400m)
2. Red Galaxy was scratched from a deeper Caulfield affair last week and, while plain second-up up the straight, returning around a bend and stepping to 1400m both look positives for the big five-year-old.
He ripped home first-up at Geelong in an eye-catching return and now has blinkers applied.
7. Watersports continues to race very consistently, was well placed when bouncing back to midweek company on February 4 and carries 3.5kg less here, with the slight drop in trip no concern.
5. Bons To Riches could take the lead and was only narrowly denied a hat-trick at Cranbourne on February 13.
3. Little Jack resumes off a long spell and was given a searching workout when winning his latest jump-out at Sale.
Selections: 2-7-5-3.
Race 4 - 1:55PM Kirin Ichiban Trophy Tips (1600m)
9. Ahha Ahha produced a somewhat puzzling effort as a beaten favourite at Caulfield when stepping to a mile for the first time, under pressure a long way out before finding a second wind and warming late into second.
She was also a touch unlucky at Geelong prior to that and may be worth another chance here, although she is becoming costly.
3. Sneaky Sunrise beat her fair and square in that latest clash and shapes as the key danger again, with the four-year-old holding a solid overall record at Flemington.
8. Astral Flame put in a shocker on Pakenham Cup Day but resumed with an all-the-way win at Cranbourne. Classy when right and may get a soft lead.
2. Alder is long odds in early markets, resuming off a lengthy layoff, but has shown encouraging signs in recent jump-outs.
Selections: 9-3-8-2.
Race 5 - 2:30PM VOBIS Gold Comet Tips (1000m)
4. Mcgaw was given a searching workout in his latest Pakenham jump-out, and while that was hard to assess, his straight-track Group 2 Danehill Stakes win here reads superbly.
Tentyris and My Gladiola filled the placings that day and have since quinellaed both the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes and Black Caviar Lightning, providing an outstanding reference.
9. Salsa Fellow looks the pick of the each-way contenders, with blinkers going back on, bringing race fitness and dropping sharply in the weights after a campaign with little luck.
1. Bridal Waltz was a Listed winner last winter before taking out the Group 3 Bletchingly. Her last straight-track run was a second to War Machine, who was resuming off a Group 1 Stradbroke win.
2. Midwest is an honest on-pace performer with solid straight-track statistics and will strip fitter from his January 24 return.
Selections: 4-9-1-2.
Race 6 - 3:05PM HKJC World Pool Trophy Tips (1100m)
1. Bel Merci was terrific on debut when taking out the Group 3 Jim Moloney Stakes, but she failed to fire in a short second preparation early last year.
Now with Ciaron Maher, her lead-up work was strong and she backed that up with an excellent Caulfield return, finishing third behind Alpha Sofie and producing the fastest last 800m and 600m of the meeting. She can track a good speed and is well placed staying against the fillies.
6. Educated faces her toughest task to date but remains unbeaten, with the Maher-trained filly handling the rise from maiden grade comfortably at Cranbourne.
4. Wintery ties in through the same Caulfield form line as Bel Merci, finishing second there and proving the pick of the on-speed runners, having won when resuming prior to that.
10. Headbanger recorded an eight-length breakthrough at Cranbourne last start. Much tougher here, but she now has confidence.
Selections: 1-6-4-10.
Race 7 - 3:40PM TAB Blamey Stakes Tips (1600m)
7. Air Assault may get the right set-up with little speed on paper, giving him the opportunity to land closer from a low draw with Damien Lane aboard.
He had excuses in a brave fresh run at Caulfield on February 7 when covering ground, and while he had no prior first-up wins, he has won two of six second-up attempts. This is as well suited as he has ever been in Victoria.
8. Enxuto did not win through spring and early summer but raced consistently, and his 1400m return a fortnight ago was solid, with the rise to a mile suiting.
2. Apulia resumes off a Perth Cup victory on New Year’s Day and has won four of five this campaign, including his last attempt over this track-and-trip.
1. Willydoit has yet to put it all together for the new yard, but blinkers go on and the spacious Flemington circuit should suit.
Selections: 7-8-2-1.
Race 8 - 4:20PM Australian Guineas Tips (1600m)
1. Observer may well be more talented than Sixties irrespective of the draw and map, and the Godolphin colt appears to have come out on top at the barriers, likely to land on speed comfortably while his main rivals must overcome a wider alley.
The Victoria Derby winner is arguably more effective between 1600m and 2000m despite his 2500m success, and while his Autumn Stakes return was comfortable, the lead-up suggested he would improve off that effort.
2. Planet Red split Observer and Autumn Boy in the Caulfield Guineas before having the tables turned in the Autumn Stakes, and while there is little between them on exposed form, the map is the key concern.
4. Sixties had favours when beating Autumn Boy in the spring but has improved this preparation, winning stylishly fresh against older rivals before covering ground and still proving too classy in the CS Hayes Stakes.
10. Express Class went as well as anything behind Sixties in the CS Hayes when producing the fastest closing splits, and while 1600m is a query, he has the finish to play a role.
Selections: 1-2-4-10.
Race 9 - 4:55PM Inglis Sprint Tips (1200m)
3. Alpha Sofie could have gone to the Oakleigh Plate but a thin $1 million age and sales-restricted race was too tempting to pass up. She has won all four outings since a debut fourth and her spring form from The Valley has stood up.
She had something in hand at Caulfield earlier this month and looks the class runner with improvement to come, the straight track the only query.
1. Nashville Jack resumed at long odds over the Magic Millions Carnival and ran a strong second behind Grafterburns. He remains lightly raced and has trialled since.
15. Layla improved sharply from her debut third when bolting in at Cranbourne and has looked good in a subsequent jump-out.
11. Teine Aulelei has always shown ability and had little go right in stakes company last spring, and she has a win and a third from two first-up attempts.
Selections: 3-1-15-11.
Race 10 - 5:35PM 3AW Handicap Tips (2000m)
10. Xtra Rush was a market drifter when resuming at Caulfield but dug deep late to hold off Single Choice, who has since franked the form with a Group 2 win.
He should improve again off that first-up run at 1800m and can roll forward to make his own luck under gun young hoop Ethan Brown.
2. Foujita San is the blowout at monster odds on stable debut for Shane Jackson. His recent work has been encouraging and he is more than capable on his day.
11. Ambassadorial recorded a deserved third-up win at Caulfield after previously being run down by Fiorenot at Flemington.
7. Fiorenot is deep into the campaign but continues to race well and drops 2.5kg from his second on February 14.
Selections: 10-2-11-7.
