Tony Gollan’s gelding showed useful form in Europe prior to joining the stable ahead of his 2025/26 campaign.

The son of Belardo jumped at big odds for his seasonal debut in The Ladbrokes Gateway, a 1400m event at this venue in December.

He raced on a wet track for the first time that day and can be forgiven that first-up effort.

The four-year-old has shown improved form since, including justifying $1.75 favouritism when stepped up to 1615m at Doomben last month.

He then finished second in an 1810m Benchmark 80 handicap here before, and with Ryan Maloney retaining the ride, he is taken to register the fourth win of his career.

Eagle Farm Value Bet - Race 7 No. 3 Estrondo

The four-year-old resumed with a solid sixth-place finish over this course and distance in December.

He jumped at big odds in a Benchmark 70 handicap that day and, after being beaten less than two lengths on a wet track, returned to winning form next time.

The son of Spirit Of Boom scored by over half a length in a 1200m Benchmark 78 handicap at Doomben.

He then completed a double when dropped to Benchmark 70 grade at the Sunshine Coast, with both wins coming on Good ground.

Robert Heathcote’s representative was tenth in a Benchmark 85 here last start but drops back in grade and, despite a wide barrier, should be suited from a midfield position.

Eagle Farm Roughie - Race 8 No. 8 Stiktodascrypt

A fifth-place finisher on debut, the gelding returned to action with a first-up victory last prep.

That win came in an 1100m maiden at Toowoomba, where he scored by over a length on a firm surface.

He then showed he handles softer conditions when placing third on a Soft 6 track here next time.

The son of Encryption raced over this distance on that occasion and went on to finish second at his final two starts of the prep.

The latest of those saw him chase home subsequent Listed winner Foreign Press when beaten just under three lengths over 1110m, and after a solid Doomben trial this month he may surprise from an inside barrier.

Moreton Hire Open Handicap Tips (Race 9)

Eagle Farm Next Best Bet - Race 9 No. 3 Battlefield

The son of Deep Field has a strong record at this venue, registering three wins and two seconds here.

Two of those placings have come this prep, including a narrow first-up defeat in a Class 6 handicap over this course and distance in December.

He backed that up with a close third over the same trip at the Sunshine Coast before stepping up to 1400m here.

He handled Good 4 conditions when saluting in that Class 6 handicap, delivering an impressive two-length victory after being ridden cold.

Similar tactics are expected again, the drop back in distance should not pose an issue, and apprentice Jace McMurray’s booking suggests he can steer the gelding to victory.
