Ascot Best Bet - Race 3 No. 3 Snow God

It was a disappointing end to his last campaign, although that came in September after competitive performances throughout winter, and the wet tracks may have taken their toll late.

There is still plenty of upside with the lightly raced Snow God and the recent Lark Hill trial win was sharp, taking out what was comfortably the fastest 950m heat of the February 9 set.

Fresh at 1000m suits.

Through a hat-trick of seconds over July and August last year, he was competitive around some handy winners, including the smart Terratif and Yorga Pride, who was stakes-placed in spring.

William Pike jumps off eye-catching last-start winner Excess Baggage to ride Snow God and, for a sprinter who can measure up in better company, he could prove too slick.

Tabtouch - Westspeed Platinum Handicap Tips (Race 7)


Ascot Roughie - Race 7 No. 1 Boab Boy

While his last prep winning form was found on the country circuit, Boab Boy has been thereabouts multiple times in metro company, often in stronger races than he faces here.

Importantly, he built confidence in spring, winning two of his last three starts, both by big margins.

His pair of February runs this year suggest he is building well, adding merit to those efforts given he does not have first- or second-up wins to his name.

After peaking late for third when settling on speed fresh, the six-year-old was ridden quieter at Belmont on February 18 and recorded the second-fastest last 200m of the race.

He looks ready for 1400m now and brings solid third-up stats, with a win, a third and a close-up fifth from three third-up runs.

Lex Piper Stakes Tips (Race 8)


Ascot Feature Bet - Race 8 No. 3 Dominatus

A classy colt from the Trevor Andrews stable, Dominatus improved with racing as his first prep progressed, particularly once the distances increased.

Off an encouraging debut, we were with the three-year-old at a big price at his second start, where he found trouble and recovered for third.

Back-to-back wins at 1400m and 1600m followed, and he was spelled after completing the double over the Ascot mile on November 4.

From the Challenge Stakes lead-up on February 15, he just missed favourite Playin'it Sweet, a fitter rival who had a softer run and arrived off a stakes triumph.

With natural improvement second-up, he is the one to beat.

Quayclean Handicap Tips (Race 10)


Ascot Value Bet - Race 10 No. 5 Rock 'N' The Jam

We may be able to wait closer to jump time to secure a better price for Rock 'N' The Jam, given he resumes off a long spell and late money could come for favourite Malletier, who is second-up off a solid Perth debut with William Pike aboard.

The 1200m may appear on the short side and could generate further market opposition.

However, we could end up getting each-way odds about the most talented horse in the field.

He is comfortably the least exposed runner in the line-up and has the most upside.

The first prep was strong, with greenness on show in a nice debut over this trip before successive Saturday wins at 1400m and 1600m at Ascot, and the February 16 trial was also solid.
