Gallopers Sports Club Benchmark 70 Handicap Tips (Race 2)


Eagle Farm Best Bet - Race 2 No. 11 Spiethtacular

Spiethtacular has made a strong start to her career, finishing outside the top two just once in her first eight starts.

That unplaced run came on her penultimate outing when finishing just under three-and-a-half lengths back in fifth over 1100m at the Gold Coast.

The daughter of Spieth raced on a good surface that day, having won her first two runs this prep on the Gold Coast synthetic track.

She returned to form when dropping back to 1000m for a Class 3 Plate here earlier this month, finishing second in a small field.

Racing on speed on a Good 4 surface, she was only run down late and with an inside barrier, Chelsea Baker’s three-kilo claim and a forecast Soft 5, the Tony Gollan-trained mare is taken to register her fourth career win.

Eagle Farm Next Best Bet - Race 5 No. 2 Sunrays

Sunrays takes the eye after a productive 2025 campaign that yielded five wins from seven starts.

That run included two Listed victories and a Group 3 second, highlighted by success in the Show A Heart, a 1500m Listed race held here in June.

The filly was spelled after that win, which came on a Soft 5, before resuming at Doomben in early September.

Racing on speed, she was beaten less than half a length into second over 1200m on a Good 4 surface.

While unraced since, she has returned with two trial seconds this month, including on a wet track at Deagon, and being unbeaten in three runs on soft ground she looks well placed despite the drop in trip.

Eagle Farm Value Bet - Race 8 No. 8 Just Flying

Just Flying won five of his fifteen starts for former trainer Robert Heathcote, most recently over 1835m in a Benchmark 85 here in August.

That victory came by just over half a length on a soft surface, with his two subsequent runs both coming on good tracks, including at Toowoomba last start.

The gelding has since joined the Tony Gollan stable and recorded a solid third in a 1050m Deagon barrier trial earlier this month.

The son of Star Turn has won first-up previously and owns a solid wet-track record, with one win and a third from three starts on soft ground.

While dropping back in distance, he has won twice over this trip and with Emily Lang aboard from barrier seven he looks value to debut for the stable.

XXXX Benchmark 90 Handicap Tips (Race 9)


Eagle Farm Roughie - Race 9 No. 8 Tectonic Plate

Tectonic Plate made just two starts last year, finishing in the placings on both occasions in February.

She was runner-up in an open handicap over this distance at the Gold Coast, beaten less than half a length.

That effort was backed up with a solid third when stepping up to 1200m at Doomben two weeks later.

Both runs came on good ground and she again raced on a sound surface when resuming with a close second here three weeks ago.

Racing off a light weight, she went down by just under half a length in an open handicap and while her last wet run was in June 2024, her 50 percent strike rate on soft ground suggests she will handle the conditions.
