The four-year-old debuted with a fair effort when finishing mid-division in a 1200m maiden at Warwick back in September.

He has since placed second in all four subsequent outings, including a narrow defeat over 1400m at the Gold Coast in October.

That run marked the gelding’s final start last preparation before resuming with a solid second over 1200m at the Sunshine Coast a month ago.

The son of Dubious jumped from a wide barrier on that occasion, with the fourth and seventh placegetters both winning at their next starts.

He has since been competitive again here, and while usually ridden with restraint, he is taken to handle a wet track for the first time.

The Irish-bred gelding ended his last preparation with a seventh-place finish when contesting a Benchmark 78 handicap over 2000m here in April last year.

He was beaten just under four lengths that day, and while all four wins have come on a sound surface, he has placed on wet tracks previously.

Matthew Dunn’s representative dropped sharply in distance for his return when producing a solid mid-division effort at the Gold Coast last month.

Racing over 1400m in a Benchmark 70, he was beaten just over three lengths into sixth after jumping from a wide barrier.

With improvement expected second-up and an extra 200m a positive, he may be capable of surprising better-fancied rivals.

Doomben Value Bet - Race 6 No. 11 Techna

The daughter of Boulder City has been kept busy this campaign, with her third at the Sunshine Coast last time out marking her tenth run of the season.

She was beaten less than two lengths in a Benchmark 78 over 2200m on that occasion after finishing close up in fifth at Ipswich prior.

The mare is chasing her second win of the season, having scored by just over one-and-a-half lengths in a 1680m event at Ipswich in November.

That victory came at Benchmark 0-58 level, and she has also placed second in her only previous appearance at this venue.

With proven wet-track form and expected to settle mid-division, she looks value receiving weight from most of the field.
