Ladbrokes Owners Bonus Maiden Tips (Race 4)

Cranbourne Roughie - Race 4 No. 4 Tabor

An NZD$65,000 purchase at Karaka – Book 2 in 2023 the three-year-old registered a couple of efforts in jump outs at this track prior to making his debut.

The pick showed improvement in the second of those efforts finishing fourth over 1000m in March and he went on to record a fourth-place finish at Kyneton on debut ten days ago.

Racing on a soft 6 track the three-year-old showed signs of inexperience in staying on nicely having been ridden with restraint in a 1469m contest that day.

The selection was beaten less than two-and-a-half-lengths on that occasion with the gelding racing on good going for the first time when finishing fifth over 1600m at Pakenham subsequently.

The three-year-old came home three-and-a-half-length’s fifth at Pakenham and he is expected to have improved for those two efforts.

The return to a forecast wet track looks likely to suit and he may prove up to surprising racing third-up.

Browns Sawdust & Shavings BM64 Handicap Tips (Race 5)

Cranbourne Value Bet - Race 5 No. 1 Toronado Boom

The four-year-old is a dual winner from six starts with his most recent triumph seeing him salute at $41 in a similar race to this at Pakenham at the end of February.

The selection was racing first up when coming home nearly one-and-a-half-lengths clear of his rivals under Damian Lane on that occasion.

The step up to metro-level racing proved too much with the gelding finishing only sixth following an awkward start in an eight-runner Benchmark 64 handicap that day.

The son of Toronado returned to form from an inside barrier when beaten less than a length into fourth in an 1143m Benchmark 64 handicap at Geelong at the start of last month.

All three starts this prep have come on good going however he is not expected to have any issues with the slightly softer conditions expected here.

Scott Cameron’s representative boasts a good barrier five from the rail and looks value to defy top weight.

Cranbourne Next Best Bet - Race 7 No. 6 Angel Of The Sea

The least experienced runner in the field takes the eye here having made just two starts to date.

The daughter of Harry Angel demonstrated plenty of ability in finishing third in at twelve runner 1200m maiden at Moe on debut in November.

The filly demonstrated improvement when breaking through for her first victory stepped up to 1343m at Geelong the following month.

Both of those efforts came on good going with the form of that Geelong success working out well with the race producing a number of subsequent winners.

Among those is subsequent Group 3 and Listed scorer Cinch who placed second that day and went on to break her maiden at Sale next time.

The three-year-old has trialled well ahead of her return to action including when recording a win in an 800m jump out at Pakenham recently.

Celine Gaudray, on board for the pick’s Moe debut effort is reunited with the selection here and her mount is selected to register a first-up win.

Stables Plus BM70 Handicap Tips (Race 8)

Cranbourne Best Bet - Race 8 No. 10 Boardrider

The New Zealand-bred demonstrated good form in his first prep racing winning his first two starts including in a 1217m maiden at Moe on debut.

The pick raced on a wet track that day and completed a double when saluting over 1400m in Benchmark 64 handicap company when racing at metro level at Sandown subsequently.

While the four-year-old lost his unbeaten record over 1630m at Flemington on his third start that race has produced a number of subsequent winners with the gelding finishing ninth that day.

The son of Preferment was spelled following that effort and jumped from a wide barrier when returning with a promising fifth over 1300m at Bendigo last month.

The selection contested a Benchmark 70 handicap that day and the extra distance he gets here and inside barrier are both positives.

Trainer Clinton McDonald’s horses have been in good form in recent weeks and his representative looks up to recording a second up success.
