Coffs Harbour Best Bet - Race 1 No. 1 Piccaderro 

The three-year-old recorded third-place finishes in each of his first three starts, including when debuting over 1200m at Scone just under a year ago.

The son of Pierro raced on wet tracks for two of those efforts and he was spelled following a below par tenth at Newcastle in February.

Piccaderro appeared not to stay the 1880m distance that day and she recorded a good fourth over 1300m on a soft 5 track at Hawkesbury via his recent return.

The gelding was returning from a break when beaten just under two-and-a-half-lengths that day and he is expected to have improved for that effort.

Brock Ryan takes the ride for the first time here and he has gate one at his disposal.

Trainer Jason Deamer boasts an impressive 44% strike-rate (4/9) at this venue and his representative looks capable of helping him improve on that with a win in the opener.

Coffs Harbour Value Bet - Race 5 No. 7 Shalamiyna

The youngster recorded three fifth-place finishes in her first four starts, including over 1405m at this venue in early September.

The daughter of Shalaa was beaten just under seven-and-a-half-lengths that day and she was spelled following that effort. 

Shalamiyna joined her fourth trainer, Taree-based Paul Kelly prior to making three appearances in barrier trials.

While the filly showed little in those three efforts, she shaped like an improved performer when saluting in impressive fashion on her home track earlier this month.

She came home nearly three lengths clear of her nearest rival when contesting a 1250m maiden held on a Heavy 9 track that day.

The slightly quicker going expected here shouldn’t pose an issue, while the step back up in distance is likely to suit.

Coffs Harbour Feature Bet - Race 7 No. 1 Russian Roni

While the son of Russian Revolution has yet to win on soft going, one of his four previous wins did come on a heavy surface.

Russian Roni also has a number of wet track placed efforts to his name, including three second place finishes on soft ground.

Two of those runner-up efforts have come in the gelding’s last three starts, including when beaten just over half-a-length over 1680m at Ipswich three starts back.

The five-year-old failed to make an impact when jumping from a double figure barrier at Gunnedah subsequently, however.

The four-time winner arrives here on the back of a runner-up effort when beaten just over a length in the Wauchope Cup at Port Macquarie two weeks ago.

He often races from the front or on the speed and Russian Roni is expected to be ridden positively from barrier eight.

Sawtell Chillifest Country Boosted Benchmark 58 Handicap Tips (Race 8)


Coffs Harbour Next Best Bet - Race 8 No. 2 De Forza

The colt showed up well in his first three starts, including when losing out by half-a-length on debut here in August.

De Forza raced on a wet track that day and broke through for his first victory when again racing on a wet surface at Grafton later that month.

The son of Calyx jumped from a wide barrier when contesting a twelve-runner 1006m maiden and he went on to place second at the same venue on his third start.

The three-year-old lost out by less than a length in a 1015m Benchmark 58 handicap that day when making his first appearance on a sound surface.

While unable to make an impact upped to metro level racing at Eagle Farm when last in action in September, he has been spelled since that effort. 

De Forza came to hand quickly last prep and he's expected to do similar for trainer Noel Mayfield-Smith this time around.
