Best Bet:
Race 6 No. 2 Giddy Up Warrior
The Saxon Warrior gelding has raced exclusively at metro level since debuting with a fifth in an 1100m maiden held on a wet track at Bendigo in July last year.
The pick went on to break his maiden when saluting by half-a-length over 1500m at Sandown two starts later.
The three-year-old ended his first prep with a couple of solid efforts at Sandown including when seventh in the Listed Super Impose Stakes over 1800m in early October.
The selection was beaten less than four lengths on that occasion with the gelding reportedly caught flat-footed when disappointing at Sandown on his return to action.
The gelding trailed in last of seven over 1400m in a Class 1 contest that day and he drops to country-level racing here.
Connections opted to scratch from a race at Echuca on Sunday to head here and that decision can pay dividends with Dakotah Keane set to ride.
Value Bet:
Race 2 No. 2 Kailash
The Irish-bred gelding showed good form at metro level in 2023 including when winning by nearly two-and-a-half-lengths at Moonee Valley in December of that year.
The son of Mastercraftsman raced on a wet track over the Cox Plate distance that day however the quicker going expected here is no issue.
While the selection has been out of form so far this prep registering four consecutive unplaced efforts it’s of note that all of those efforts have come in metro company at Moonee Valley.
The seven-year-old has fallen down the weights as a result of those disappointing efforts while he gelding getting an easier looking contest switched from city racing here.
Apprentice Rose Hammond takes one-and-a-half-kilogram’s off the gelding’s back and her mount looks value to register a win for the Nick Ryan stable.
Market Mover:
Race 3 No. 6 All Kinds Of Folk
John & Chris Ledger send out All Kinds Of Folk in the third race, with the filly having been set some stiff tasks last pre, including when thirteenth in the Group 1 VRC Oaks at Flemington.
The daughter of D’Argento resumed with a solid four length fourth in a 1300m maiden at Sandown and she drops to country-level racing here.
With Ladbrokes, All Kinds Of Folk is currently a $1.90 favourite.
Stats Say:
Trainer Enver Jusufovic has been in good form in recent times with the handler boasting a 32% strike-rate from his last fifty runners.
The trainer boasts a 19% strike-rate (26/134) when teaming up with Carleen Hefel and they are represented by Made The Effort in the fifth race of the day.
The gelding finished fourth in a 1200m maiden at Moe last month and having been allocated an inside barrier he may prove up to surprising at what are expected to be double figure odds.
