The Stars have had a big swing of momentum their way and from watching the games it doesn’t seem temporary. Their batting lineup has been extremely solid in their last two matches against elite bowling attacks. They have weapons all down the order who can break out at any time.

We don’t often talk about fielding but the Stars have been electric with their fielding recently, especially Glenn Maxwell who has taken some amazing catches. With there always being some fielding mishaps leading to extra runs or missed wickets it is becoming more essential that your team can convert their chances, which the Stars are doing.

The Renegades should not be underestimated with guys like Josh Brown, Jake Fraser-McGurk and Tim Seifert all able to score big with the bat. Top performances this season have though been few and far between for these guys which has been to the detriment of the team.

Take the Stars on the moneyline, you aren’t sacrificing too much juice to alleviate the handicap which could come into play. With totals being low at Marvel take the Under with the Stars going Over their Boundaries total.

  • The Stars won the first matchup this season by 5 wickets (2 balls remaining)
  • Both games at Marvel this season have had Game Totals under 290 runs.
  • The Renegades gave up 18 boundaries to the Stars last game.
  • The Stars are averaging 20.8 boundaries as the away team and 20.6 in their last 5.

Melbourne Renegades Form

The Renegades had an all time win over Perth on Tuesday coming back from 4-10 and then 5-44 to win by 4 wickets with 2 balls remaining.

Will Sutherland was the instigator coming in at number 6 and hitting 70 off 45 balls including 5 fours and 3 sixes. He was backed up by Tom Rogers who hit an unbeaten 49 to ensure his team reached the total with the closest of margins.

The Gades sent Perth into bat after winning the toss and were smashed for 25 off the first 9 balls of the innings. Back to back wickets including the big one of Mitch Marsh for a golden duck put Melbourne into control. Tom Rogers took 2 wickets with the ball with a worthy man of the match performance. Adam Zampa took 3 keeping the tail end tidy.

The Renegades are 2-3 in their last 5 and 3-4 on the season. They are 6th in the standings on 6 points but have the second best Net Run Rate which means they could fly up the standings should they pick up some wins.

Average match totals at Renegades home matches have been low, 241.3 runs per game - severely affected by the 152 total in the Hobart game earlier in the year.

Melbourne Stars Form

The Stars are coming off a big win against the Sydney Sixers which has kept a slim hope alive that they can make the finals. They have won three in a row and sit just one win behind the leaders.

Melbourne though have played the most games of any team which means they have lost 5. With only 2 games remaining including this one their future will be dependent on other teams losing.

The victory against Sydney was highlighted by some elite batting performances from Beau Webster and Glenn Maxwell while Mark Steketee picked up 3 wickets with the ball. Peter Siddle, Marcus Stoinis and Usama Mir all contributed with 2 wickets each in key times of the run chase keeping Sydney under wraps.

The Stars are averaging over 20 boundaries per game across their last 5, 16 of those being fours.
