Reds vs Moana Pasifika Tips
Moana lost by a point to the Force last weekend and be competitive against a Reds side playing their first game. With a 15.5 start, I'm backing the visitors to cover.

Head to Head
Moana Pasifika beat the Reds 17-14 when they met in 2024. That fixture was an away game for the Reds.
Reds Form
The Reds had a bye in round one of the competition, so their season only gets underway this weekend. They reached the quarter-final stage in 2024 where they lost 43-21 to the Chiefs in Hamilton.
2024 was a decent year for the Reds, but they will want better in 2025. The Brumbies have been the top Aussie side for a few seasons now, something the Reds will want to change. This game offers them a good opportunity to make a positive start.

Moana Pasifika Form
Moana have been in Super Rugby for a few years now and the one consistent trait with them has been the start of the season. They are always competitive at the start, often achieving memorable wins, but as the season progresses, players get injured and tired, things start to fall apart.
That has to do mainly with squad depth for Moana. Not much has changed on that front this season, so they will have to rotate their squad carefully. The addition of Ardie Savea to their squad will certainly add plenty of experience and quality.
Pasifika will be disappointed with their start, losing 45-44 in Perth against the Western Force last weekend. It was a fantastic game, one which the Force won in the final moments, but also one Moana let go of.

Replacements: 16 Sama Malolo, 17 Tito Tuipulotu, 18 Chris Apoua, 19 Tom Savage, 20 Semisi Tupou Ta’eiloa, 21 Melani Matavao, 22 Danny Toala, 23 Losi Filipo.
Verdict
This is a tough challenge for the Reds to open their season, but they should have the quality to win. I am backing just that, but given Moana's performance last weekend, I do see the visitors losing by less than 15.5 points.
