Conferences At The Laurels Maiden Plate Tips (Race 1)
Sale Roughie - Race 1 No. 14 The Fox Sisters
Trainer Charlotte Littlefield’s runners have been performing well in the main of late and with an across the card double at Kilmore and Pakenham on Thursday among her recent scorers.
The handler saddles two on the Sale card including the daughter of Foxwedge who has made two appearances at date.
The pick demonstrated ability when beaten three lengths into fourth when contesting an 1109m maiden at Stony Creek on debut last month.
The filly was slowly away on that occasion but had no such issues when racing on the pace over 1100m at Avoca subsequently.
The selection finished fifth when beaten just over three-and-a-half-lengths at Avoca with both of those efforts coming on a good 4 track.
The three-year-old steps up in distance here and while a double-figure barrier isn’t ideal she may prove capable of springing a surprise with Beau Mertens set to ride for the first time.

Sale Best Bet - Race 5 No. 9 Ginger Sweet
The four-year-old has been in good form without winning this prep finishing in the top three in five of his seven starts.
Those efforts include two second-place finishes at this venue with the first of those coming over this track and trip in a Benchmark 64 handicap here in December.
The filly has since gone on to place over further when contesting a 2000m Benchmark 0-64 handicap at Pakenham three starts back.
While the daughter of Tavistock finished unplaced over that distance at Morphettville on her penultimate start she went on to finish second in a similar race to this here last time.
The form of that contest, which took place on a wet track looks strong enough with the winner placing second at Caulfield recently and the seventh home winning subsequently.
The selection is proven at this level and returning to a sound surface she is taken to record a win racing in a tongue tie for the first time.

Sale Value Bet - Race 6 No. 1 Manhattan Thunder
John Sadler’s representative is a previous winner at this venue having debuted with a win over 1113m here in July 2022.
The tactically-versatile gelding recorded some good efforts last prep including when fourth in a 955m Benchmark 64 handicap at Moonee Valley at the end of December.
The five-year-old took a drop down from metro-level racing subsequently with his best effort in three starts coming when third of five over 1000m at Moe on his penultimate start.
The pick lost out by just over half-a-length when racing on a sound surface that day and he was given a break following a fourth of five over 1200m at Colac subsequently.
The drop back in distance shouldn’t pose an issue to the gelding who was a winner over this distance in a Benchmark 70 handicap at Cranbourne just over a year ago.
Luke Cartwright’s mount has gone well fresh in the past and looks value to resume with a victory.
Ladbrokes Form Genius Handicap Tips (Race 8)
Sale Next Best Bet - Race 8 No. 8 Dougal Mckeen
The New Zealand-bred gelding has performed well at double-figure odds in both starts this prep including when resuming with a fourth at Geelong last month.
The five-year-old was beaten three-and-a-half-lengths in a Benchmark 0-58 handicap held over 1321m on a good 4 track on that occasion.
The selection backed that up with a third-place finish when beaten less than one-and-a-half-lengths in a similar contest over 1450m at Kilmore just over two weeks ago.
The son of Vadamos raced from the rear of mid-division last time out and similar tactics are expected jumping from two off the rail here.
The pick has shown a liking for this venue in the past following up a second over 1529m here in July last year with a track and trip success the following month.
Connections have opted to utilise apprentice Steph Hateley’s three-kilogram claim here and her mount looks capable of recording the second win of his career.
