TAB Highway Handicap Tips (Race 2)


Randwick Favourite - Race 2 No. 4 Cambar

He won his first three starts over a spaced-out first campaign, which includes a Heavy 9 triumph on debut and a Soft 7 success when taking out a Rosehill Highway in November and his recent lead-up work has been sharp.

Cambar was scratched from last Saturday's Rosehill program and with a kinder draw here in what looks a weaker Highway, the decision to wait a week has been justified.

He's currently on the second line of betting, however, market positions could easily swap with Exit Fee, as the current fav was poor last time out and prior to that, he had every chance first-up when well backed.

Chandon Handicap Tips (Race 4)


Randwick Best Bet - Race 4 No. 5 Amreekiyah

Peter Snowden has a very progressive horse on his hands in Amreekiyah and the unbeaten mare is well placed to keep her unbeaten run intact, with the four-year-old arriving here off a strong return victory.

On a Canterbury program that favoured the on-speed brigade, she was the only runner to win from back in the field, while the form through the well-held third and fourth placegetters has stood up.

Amreekiyah first caught the eye on debut when taking out a strong Super Maiden at Kembla Grange and she then defeated Pinito (stakes winner and Group 1 placed that later prep) via a Class 1 at Newcastle.

Precise Air Premier's Cup Prelude Tips (Race 9)


Randwick Roughie - Race 9 No. 3 Asterix

While he was disappointing in the Group 1 Tancred Stakes before being tipped out, there was merit to his first three performances under Chris Waller and his July lead-up work has been sound.

On stable debut over the Randwick mile, Asterix should've finished closer at big price and he followed that up with a sixth-of-thirteen in the Group 3 Parramatta Cup, where he was in the inferior going.

1800m is a good starting point for the 2022 New Zealand Derby winner, who has won two of three attempts on heavy and the Kiwi wet tracks are generally much more testing than heavy ground in Australia.

Drinkwise Mile Tips (Race 10)


Randwick Value Bet - Race 10 No. 11 Kapakiri

Both winter trials leading into his July 16 resumption were good and while he could be one run short second-up, Kapakiri looks set for a nice prep and there's more in his favour on Saturday from a better draw.

The rise to 1600m also suits the Chris Waller-trained galloper, who finished within a length of the winner via his most recent Randwick-Kensington resumption and that fresh run was effectively another trial.

His summer campaign fell away late, however, the early efforts were both decent, with a narrow fresh loss followed up by an unlucky second-up attempt and on paper, this looks a very winnable assignment.
