Moonee Valley Next Best Bet - Race 3 No. 8 Enna's Dream
Had she come up against Bossy Benita again, then I suspect that Enna's Dream could've turned the tables on that rival from their Sandown clash, where this mare made ground from back in the field.
For a BM74 fillies & mares race, that fresh form looks okay, as Bossy Benita was runner-up in a late season three-year-old event at Caulfield via her next appearance, whereas Enna's Dream went to Geelong for a second-up kill.
She was below her best last campaign, so was a confidence booster was needed and with options from barrier six, along with having underfoot conditions to suit on Saturday, the five-year-old can go back-to-back.
Ladbrokes Top 2/3/4 Betting Handicap Tips (Race 4)
Moonee Valley Feature Bet - Race 4 No. 3 Oak Hill
Although it's only a small field, a handy line up has been assembled for the premier sprint on Saturday's Moonee Valley program and the top three in the weights all have excellent records at this circuit.
Oak Hill just heads the early market over a resuming Group 1 winner in Mornington Glory, while Midwest is on the third of betting and the Freedman-trained gelding is three-from-three at The Valley.
From gate one, the son of Per Incanto will need breaks at the right time behind some sharp sprinters, but gun hoop Blake Shinn is aboard the strongest closer in the field and there's still upside with Oak Hill.
Darren Grech Myeloma Australia Handicap Tips (Race 5)
Moonee Valley Favourite - Race 5 No. 7 Stoli Bolli
He had a long first campaign, with six runs completed in Melbourne as an early three-year-old and that may have caught up with him via a hot race in Queensland following a Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes tilt.
The Hayes-trained gelding has been given time since that January 4 outing and while 1000m looks on the short side going off his exposed form, Stoli Bolli appears very forward going off his last jump-out win.
Stoli Bolli isn't as seasoned a his opposition, however, he could be the most progressive horse here and Blake Shinn sticks from the July hit-out's, with the gun hoop having also steered him to victory here last September.
Ladbrokes SRM in Multis Handicap Tips (Race 6)
Moonee Valley Best Bet - Race 6 No. 11 Esha
Shane Nichols also prepared I Am A Star, an aptly named galloper who was a nine-time Group winner (three at Moonee Valley) and she also was the first three-year-old filly in history to win the Group 1 Empire Rose Stakes.
Esha is the third foal out of I Am A Star and Nichols looks to have another smart one from the family, with the daughter of Extreme Choice impressing with a slick debut victory in Adelaide before being tipped out.
She ran good time (bettered Sir Now's race - he won his next three before a Listed placing) when making light of work of Chisholm, who was runner-up to Within The Law (Group 2 winner and Group 1 placed) on debut and Esha arrives off two strong jump-out wins.
Drummond Golf Handicap Tips (Race 9)
Moonee Valley Value Bet - Race 9 No. 1 Apache Song
It was good placement from Michael Trotter to get black-type for Apache Song, who contested the Group 2 Australia Stakes here in January, where she was the fit and in-form sprinter of the field.
The mare has failed in two subsequent stakes attempts, which includes a last-of-eighth finish when resuming in the Group 3 Bletchingly Stakes at Caulfield and she's now well back in grade to a BM84.
It's worth respecting the second-up improvements that have been made via her last two preps (won both) and Apache Song was flying at The Valley last time in, with a hat-trick recorded over November and December.
