Morphettville Best Bet - Race 2 No. 3 Sav On Ice

The ability has always been there with Sav On Ice, who broke at start two last November before a spell and teasing performances, the grey dropped back in grade and got a kill at Balaklava on July 2.

That BM56 victory has sparked the entire up, as the Darryl Carrison-trained galloper progressed for a metro double last month and the combined winning margin of those last victories was over 13 lengths.

He hasn't exactly been beating up on slouches either, with Stirrup Cup (Listed placed in May) runner-up in his last two events, while Showrunner franked the July 19 form when saluting at Murray Bridge last week.

Morphettville Feature Bet - Race 7 No. 9 Cicala

The best credentialed horse in the Behemoth Stakes is Queman, with last year's Oakleigh Plate resuming off a long break (sesamoid injury) and his winter trial wins have been in slick time for the respective mornings.

While there's queries on Queman, he can at least saved on at each-way odds as the class runner under WFA conditions and leading the early market is Cicala, who is aiming to extend her unbeaten streak to four.

It'll be great training effort to measure up here at start four in her first prep, but the form reads fairly around her, with Noetzie bolting in before a fair Melbourne showing, while the Fieldelo and Sir Now references are also sound.

Morphettville Value Bet - Race 8 No. 7 Bad Detective

It might not be an ideal set-up in resuming against a field of fitter opposition, however, Bad Detective could easily be the best to come from this race and we're getting an each-way quote to find out.

This lightly raced five-year-old was given some time after a decent debut behind the subsequent Victoria Derby winner and he the progressed nicely in his second prep, with two wins and two placings from four starts.

It looked an end of prep effort when runner-up behind Sparkup (won again next start) on March 1, but he arrived there off a dominant third-up victory and an experienced Jason Holder stays aboard Bad Detective.

Morphettville Next Best Bet - Race 9 No. 12 Major Rumble

He didn't relish a very testing surface when contesting the Lightning Stakes at start two, however, Major Rumble wasn't disgraced in that Listed attempt and the track won't be as wet this time around.

Major Rumble was thrown in the deep end following a strong debut triumph at Murray Bridge, although the aggressive placement was warranted off that comfortable win (fastest closing splits of the meeting).

The form has also stood up from that July 2 maiden, with second, third and fourth all winning their next starts (fifth-place was runner-up) and this appeals as a soft metro option, providing he backs up from a Heavy 10.
