Pinjarra Best Bet - Race 3 No. 3 About Turn

This son of Star Turn has been a work in progress for connections, having first been seen at the races in July last year when sixth-of-nine in a strong late-season two-year-old affair at Northam.

That race has produced multiple metropolitan-class references, including winner Zourun Run, who was a three-time Belmont winner this winter, while runner-up Crimson Pirate went on to score back-to-back victories at Ascot in February, including at Listed level.

About Turn was then given time after a failure at start two and opened his second campaign in February with a runner-up finish at Pinjarra, before going even closer when third-of-12 on March 5 in another maiden at the track that has since produced five subsequent winners.

He was given another break after being well held third-up on March 22, with a nice July 20 trial at Belmont preceding his August 5 return, where he was heavily backed but endured a luckless run three wide throughout and still stuck on fairly well under the circumstances.

Not only does About Turn find an easier provincial assignment on Thursday, but the four-year-old also comes up with a much kinder draw for this seven-furlong maiden.

Pinjarra Value Bet - Race 4 No. 5 History Supreme

There was merit in the debut performance from History Supreme at Northam on August 6, where the son of Astern found himself off the speed and awkwardly placed entering the home straight.

After hitting a flat spot, he was forced back towards the inside into inferior going, while the majority of those finishing ahead of him were able to find the quicker lanes wider out.

There was still plenty to like about the effort, with History Supreme recording the fastest last 600m of the mile contest.

From a low draw this time, Brad Parnham can ideally have the gelding settling closer, which was the case when he bolted in with a 1450m Lark Hill trial on July 27, comfortably accounting for South Hoba.

History Supreme was spelled after being well beaten in a January 12 trial having shifted from Victoria without racing there, and there should be natural improvement to come from that debut with the prospect of further ground suiting in time.

Pinjarra Next Best Bet - Race 5 No. 2 Triple The Chant

Triple The Chant probably stayed at 1400m for one run too long when third-up at Belmont on July 25, although it was another encouraging performance as she came from off the speed to record the fastest last 200m of that Saturday 60+.

She had contested the same grade a fortnight earlier when settling right back and being completely unsuited in a leader-dominated race, having opened the campaign with an eye-catching second over 1200m at Belmont on June 17 after producing the fastest closing sectionals of that Class 3.

Those three runs should now give her the right platform to step up to the mile, a distance range that clearly suits given she strung together a hat-trick of wins around this trip through winter last year.

Her most recent mile appearance came in Saturday metropolitan company third-up in January, where she finished midfield as a short-priced favourite, while the mare is also a half-sister to talented Listed winner Triple Missile.

She looks very well placed back at provincial level carrying only 1kg more than last start in this Class 5 handicap, and if runners are able to make ground at Pinjarra on Thursday, this shapes as an ideal race for Triple The Chant.
