Celtic vs LASK Linz UEFA Champions League Tips & Prediction - Celtic to take initial advantage in Glasgow

Celtic are favourites to win their UEFA Champions League qualifying tie against LASK Linz, backed by excellent early season form, home advantage, and a potent attack featuring Kasper Hogh and Kieran Tierney. While LASK also arrive in good form domestically, their European away record is poor. With key players on both sides, Celtic are tipped for a home win and clean sheet. Injuries for both teams are noted, with Jota and Oxlade-Chamberlain missing for Celtic and Smakaj and Harakate for LASK.

Celtic vs LASK Linz UEFA Champions League Tips & Prediction

Celtic are backed for a home win and clean sheet in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League qualifying tie with Austrian club LASK Linz on Wednesday night in Glasgow, with star recruit Kasper Hogh getting amongst the goals and Kieren Tierney firing off 1+ shots on target.

Celtic should be confident of getting off to a winning start in front of their home fans after an impressive opening to their season, winning all three competitive games and banging in 10 goals in the process.

Kasper Hogh, signed over the summer from Bodo/Glimt, has scored three of those goals and will be looking to further endear himself to fans at Celtic Park as The Bhoys look to get back to Champions League football following their heartbreaking playoff defeat to Kairat Almaty last term.

Austrian champions LASK are also enjoying a perfect start to domestic campaign, but their record on the road in Europe is alarming - indeed, they haven't won such a game since 2021.

Still early days, but Celtic have shown enough in their opening three games that they deserve favouritism at home for this one. I'm backing Martin O'Neil's side to produce win to nil, with Hogh and Kieren Tierney a threat going forward.
  • Celtic have won all three games in all comps this season
  • Celtic have won their last six competitive games at home
  • LASK have lost eight of their last nine European away games
  • LASK failed to win a single game in the Conference League last term
  • LASK have failed to win four of their last five games vs Scottish teams
  • Kasper Hogh has scored three goals since joining Celtic this season
  • Kieren Tierney has registered 2+ shots on target in his two appearances this season & should have chances going forward down the left flank again here

Celtic vs LASK Head To Head

This will be the first ever competitive meeting between the two teams.

Celtic Form Analysis

It was a wild season for Celtic last term, but they turned it on when it mattered most, beating Hearts 3-1 on the final day to secure the league trophy before conquering Dunfermline to lift the Scottish Cup.

Martin O'Neill's side have continued that form into the start of this season, winning all three games by a combined score of 10-1.

An opening 1-0 win over Dundee was followed by a 6-1 thumping of Kilmarnock on the road, with Hogh scoring a first-half hat-trick.

The Bhoys then dismantled Dundee United in the League Cup this past weekend, coming away with a 4-0 win. Benjamin Nygren was the main man, registering two assists and scoring a goal, while Auston Trusty, Camilo Duran and Seb Tounekti also found the back of the net.

Celtic Team News

Jota remains sidelined with a knee injury, while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is unavailable for this one due to suspension.

Haissem Hassan lit up the World Cup for Egypt and the pacy winger made his Celtic debut off the bench in the League Cup this past weekend.

LASK Form Analysis

It was a brilliant campaign for LASK last season as they were crowned Austrian Bundesliga champions for the first time since 1964/65.

That result ensured they enter the final round of Champions League qualifying, but they will be hoping to fare better than their last venture into Europe, where they failed to win all of their six games in the Conference League last term.

Dietmar Kuhbauer's side have also started this season with a bang, winning all four games and scoring 16 goals in the process - including 7-0 and 4-1 victories against SC Kalsdorf and SV Ried respectively.

LASK Team News

Art Smakaj and Ramiz Harakate are still sidelined with injuries.

American striker Samuel Adeniran has been on fire to start the season, scoring five goals in four games, while Nigerian attacker Moses Usor has two goals in his last two appearances.
