Best Bet:
Race 8 No. 6 Stealth Of Night
The Irish-bred filly showed plenty of ability when debuting with a length second in an 1100m maiden at Geelong in December 2023.
The daughter of Night Of Thunder jumped as favourite that day and while beaten she stayed on nicely on that occasion.
The winner that day The Reluctant Star went in at Flemington next time prior to being exported to Hong Kong and re-named while the third won next time.
While the pick was off the track for over a year subsequently she showed that she is ready to make up for lost time when winning impressively over 1200m here last month.
The four-year-old came home nearly three-and-a-half-lengths clear of her rivals when racing prominently that day and she looks ready for this step up in distance.
Jockey Craig Williams, on board that day boasts a 28% strike-rate (9/32) when teaming up with the Ben, JD & Will Hayes team this season and they can improve on that with a win in the finale.
Next Best:
Race 4 No. 4 Daella
The three-year-old ended her last prep with a half-length success in a 1000m maiden held on a sound surface at Cranbourne at the start of October.
The selection has gone on to register three good placed efforts including when resuming with at wo length second in a small field 1000m Benchmark 64 handicap here in early February.
The daughter of Written Tycoon went on to prove that she can compete at metro level when beaten just over a length into third when contesting a Benchmark 64 handicap at Moonee Valley.
The filly was freshened following that effort and while she could finish only third in a similar race to this over track and trip earlier this month she acquitted herself well that day.
Cliff Brown’s representative boasts a good barrier here and racing on a wet track for the first time she looks capable of racing close to the speed prior to recording the second win of her career.
Market Mover:
Race 6 No. 9 Laugh With Me
Joseph Waldron’s filly broke through for her second win when successful in a Benchmark 0-58 handicap event at Bairnsdale in September.
The filly took a step forward on her second start this prep when losing out by a narrow margin in a similar contest over 1450m at Kilmore earlier this month.
The daughter of Harry Angel gets a drop in distance for this contest and she is now $6.50 with Neds (opened at $10),
Stats Say:
Trainer Clinton McDonald has won with three of his six runners so far in April and he saddles two runners on the card.
Both debutant Eumachia (Race 2) and Miss Playlounge (Race 5) are set to feature prominently in the betting with jockey Ben Melham booked to ride both.
McDonald and Melham can boast a 32% strike-rate (7/19) when teaming up this campaign and they look to hold strong claims of improving on that here.
