Mighty Myrtle needs to overcome another wide alley, however, the set-up otherwise appeals for Thursday's Albury assignment, where the four-year-old is third-up off two fast-run races.

The Dryden & Snowden-trained mare has recorded the fastest last 200m of both races this time, which have been in Country Qualifiers and she was a month between runs second-up on March 23.

With four wins and two seconds from nine appearances, Mighty Myrtle has put together a tide record in her short career to date and she's won both of her prior third-up attempts.

This looks a suitable race for Medatsu, with the Chris Waller-trained galloper looking to respond from a flat Rosehill effort, where he spotted them a big start on a Heavy 8.

He caught the eye prior to that when rattling home at Rosehill over this trip and the son of Staphanos was mostly consistent throughout his last prep, with three wins from six starts.

His last victory was recorded over this distance in Sydney where Medatsu defeated four subsequent winners and Mare Of Mt Buller (Group 3 winner last month) was among that beaten brigade.

Albury Value Bet - Race 7 No. 5 Southern Fire

Her winning strike-rate isn't flash, although Southern Fire has been campaigning in stronger company throughout most of her career and the five-year-old is a proven fresh performer.

The daughter of Toronado has only finished out of the money once if four first-up outings, with that miss coming at metro level on wet ground (her best form has been on good tracks).

Southern Fire was a Flemington straight-track winner early last year and her subsequent Victorian efforts in BM64-78 grade suggests that a country BM58 should be well within reach.
