Newcastle Best Bet - Race 1 No. 3 Offenbach
Trainer Michael Freedman has prepared 55 winners this season at a very good strike-rate of 21% and from 23 starters in April, he's had seven winners (31%) and six placegetters.
Michael Freedman is one of the more prominent juvenile trainers and Offenbach did show potential on debut when runner-up behind Blitzburg, who was a Group 3 winner in February.
Offenbach has been gelded since a sixth-of-nine finish in the Wyong Magic Millions (first two filled the quinella of the Gold Coast 2yo Classic) and his second autumn trial suggests he's ready to go.

Newcastle Value Bet - Race 3 No. 6 Southerly Buster
Although he's lacked the turn-of-foot over 1200m and 1500m, Southerly Buster has showed enough in both outings to date, with the gelding arriving here off a pair third-place finishes.
There was money for the three-year-old on debut, where he beat home Tact (won his next start) and at start two, he ran the fastest closing sectionals of a Super Maiden at Newcastle.
Southerly Buster has the platform to attack this 1850m journey at start three and with breeding that suggests he should relish this trip, he does make some each-way appeal.

Newcastle Next Best Bet - Race 4 No. 8 Mignonette
This Chris Waller-trained filly shares early favouritism with Righteous Legend, who might be the better horse going forward, but the set-up favours Mignonette in this 1250m contest.
Along with having a shorter turnaround from her first prep vs that rival, this three-year-old has completed two April trials ahead of this (Righteous Legend has only had one trial).
The fourth foal from Catkins (winner of 12 stakes races), Mignonette was fair on debut in a handy maiden and she was strong past the line in her last trial (heat rated very well for the class).

Newcastle Roughie - Race 5 No. 12 Aroha Stone
She won three trials ahead of a debut placement at Listed level over last year's Scone Carnival and that event was taken out by Lazzura, who was a Group 2 winner at Rosehill last month.
Aroha Stone was green in that first race day appearance and while she still wasn't furnished via her second campaign last spring, the three-year-old was mostly consistent over that prep.
The filly covered ground before breaking through at Port Macquarie and she was then spelled after a second to Prince Of Sorts (72 rater who has won two races in stronger company over autumn).
