Hawkesbury Tips October 28
Best Bet:
Race 4 No. 7 Margin Call
This is clearly tougher from Canberra maiden company, but Margin Call created an impression in that October 10 debut triumph.
Coming from off the speed in a very slowly run race, the Ciaron Maher-trained galloper recorded the fastest closing sectionals of the meeting via a 2.16-length success.
There has been some form from the race, with third saluting on Monday, while the runner-up Tyrone's Power was metro placed at Warwick Farm in May.
A half-brother to Yes Baby Yes (dual Group 2 winner), Margin Call was well supported in that first race day appearance, which followed a nice trial win.
Value Bet:
Race 8 No. 1 Yabby Pump
The return was just fair at Newcastle when lacking a turn-of-foot late over 1200m, although his lead-up work suggested he'd need that fresh hit-out.
Also, Yabby Pump wasn't beaten all that far in form race that's holding up okay, with third a subsequent winner and the quinella were both runner-up at their next outings.
He showed enough last season, with start two breakthrough over this distance despite racing greenly and he kicked off 2025 with a 1300m victory at Hawkesbury.
There were excuses in Brisbane back in April (slow recovery) and along with stripping fitter second-up, getting to 1400m is also a tick.
Market Mover:
Race 1 No. 4 She Swings
There's been good early support for this four-year-old, who is now a $4.80 chance with Neds after opening at $7.50.
She was well held fresh at Goulburn, however, the rise is distance appears suitable second-up and She Swings showed potential early this year with seconds at Warwick Farm and Newcastle.
Stats Say:
Brad Widdup has been the leading trainer at Hawkesbury over the last 12 months, with 13 winners at his home track and they've come at a handy strike-rate of 20%.
After the scratching of Bondi Blossom, who raced at Kembla Grange on Saturday, he has three runners on the October 28 card.
