Flemington Tips January 11

Race 1 - 12:20PM TAB We're On Tips (1400m)

Best: 2. Stormy Grove. He was specked at a price ahead of a slashing debut victory at Geelong, where Stormy Grove showed a slick turn-of-foot from back in the field to score over 1221m.

Stormy Grove recorded the fastest last 400m of that December 5 program and while this is a step up in grade, two subsequent winners have been produced from that maiden.

Being by Toronado and coming from the same family as Hill Of Grace (Vinery Stud Stakes winner), he should eat up 1400m and the gelding has worked well in two recent jump-out's.
Value: 6. Rubiquity. The son of Rubick wasn't able to deliver over his first three starts and after disappointing at Geelong when second-up in August, the decision wax made to geld the three-year-old.

The ultimate gear change could be the making of this youngster, who got a Warrnambool kill out of the way first-up on November 11 in a maiden rated okay for the class/meeting.

He hasn't been suited in three Moonee Valley appearances since the fresh triumph (luckless in the latest), while the rise in trip and bigger circuit both look to be positives on Saturday.

Race 2 - 12:50PM National Jockeys Trust Trophy Tips (2000m)

Best: 9. Thedoctoroflove. This son of So You Think is out of Khandallah, who is a half-sister to Dalasan and Party Princess (stakes winners) and the youngster looks set to eat up 2000m at start three.

Thedoctoroflove has done his best work late in both appearances and after coming off the bit before balancing up late via his latest over 1717m, he's ready to attack the longer journey.

There are no superstars among the winners of this three-year-old affair and over what's a suitable rise in trip for a progressive staying type, he has solid claims at a double figure quote.

Value: 3. Kicking King. After being well on debut over seven furlongs, Kicking King has improved in two subsequent runs and the latest was an eye-catching second in a similar race.

The son of Highland Reel was the only one to figure from off the speed in that Moonee Valley race on December 6, where he was left flat-footed when the sprint went on before winding up late.

That metro runner-up followed a big debut victory at Geelong, where he overcame a slow start to salute and Kicking King has been produced on the fresh side for this entire first prep.

Race 3 - 1:23PM Jockey Acknowledgement Plate Tips (1600m)

Best: 1. Smokin' Princess. She saluted for us at decent odds over 1500m when resuming on the Caulfield Heath circuit and the five-year-old followed that up with a second at Pakenham.

Smokin' Princess ran the fastest last 400m and 200m of that BM78, and the form looks okay through Elphinstone (stakes placed), with the fit winner dropping out of a Group 3 for that December 21 event.

While she was competitive over longer last time in, 1600m looks her right trip and with 1kg less after the claim in what's a slightly easier race, Smokin' Princess is well placed third-up.

Value: 4. Soaring Eagle. Long odds are available for the veteran following a flat effort second-up in a race won by Keep Your Cool (fav), however, Soaring Eagle was competitive fresh.

That Adelaide form through Wild Imagination and Van Roy reads well enough for a mares BM78, while she now gets up to her pet journey (half of her wins have come over this trip).

Soaring Eagle was a winner last winter and there's also solid form from earlier that season, which includes a third-up second behind Dashing, who is rated well above anything here.

Race 4 - 1:58PM Readiness App Handicap Tips (2500m)

Best: 1. Taramansour. Without setting the world on fire, Taramansour was building into the prep fairly well ands he was 1400m to 2000m when peaking late on his second-up effort.

The Phillip Stokes-trained galloper remained at ten furlongs via a Sydney tilt last start, where he did his best work late, while the rise in trip and drop in grade are both ticks fourth-up.

He's placed via his last three starts at Flemington and his autumn/winter references through Fawkner Park, Berkshire Breeze, Dashing Duchess and Hit The Road Jack all read superbly for this grade.

Value: 10. Sentimental Flame. Travis Doudle crosses the border with Sentimental Flame, who worked early via a brave last start performance in a Morphettville BM80 over 2400m.

Arugamama (winner) is no slouch and that stakes-placed galloper franked the December 7 form when leading throughout for a dominant victory on December 28 in Adelaide.

Sentimental Flame showed promise early, having been competitive multiple times at black-type level and after a slow start to this season, her recent runs suggests that she's turned a corner.

Race 5 - 2:33PM Victorian Jockeys Association Trophy Tips (1000m)

Best: 5. New York Lustre. Enver Jusufovic often pops up in summer with a few lightly raced types and he's found a very winnable metro assignment for New York Lustre on Saturday.

The Cranbourne stable is in great form, with nine winners from their last 25 starters and this mare five-year-old recorded the last of those triumphs when bolting in on return last month.

While this is harder, the well beaten runner-up from her December 29 victory has won either side of that Seymour event and New York Lustre will make her own on luck on the speed from a favourable draw.
Value: 9. Let's Trot. Reece Goodwin is a promising young trainer who will feature more at metro level and it's interesting that he's scratched Let's Trot from a home track event on Friday night.

The three-year-old showed ability in three outings over his first prep, which culminated in a stylish breakthrough at Bairnsdale in September and he remains at 1000m for this fresh tilt.

There doesn't appear to be much upside with most of his more exposed rivals in this field and he arrives to this first-up attempt off two jump-outs last month at Pakenham (placed in both).

Race 6 - 3:08PM Honouring Our Jockeys Plate Tips (1600m)

Best: 11. Castle On High. The Anthony & Sam Freedman stable place their horses where they can win and there's easier options around for this youngster, who contests this metro BM70 as a 65-rater.

A lightly raced four-year-old, Castle On High showed some potential in his first two Australian preps after a runner-up finish on debut in New Zealand and the penny looks to have dropped now.

He broke the 1400m track record at Seymour via a stlyish first-up victory last month and the runner-up franked that form ten days later when bolting in over 1600m on the same circuit.

Value: 10. Autumn Slide. Her only poor performance in eight starts to date was a last-of-eight finish at Caulfield two starts back, where Autumn Slide failed in a BM74 on soft ground.

The Simon Zahra-trained galloper opened her second campaign with a winning hat-trick and she handled the rise from country BM58 grade when successful in a metro BM64 at The Valley.

She was back to 1500m when a month between runs on the Caulfield Heath circuit and given she was unsuited by the race shape there, that last start performance was a pass mark.

Race 7 - 3:43PM The Stud and Stable Staff Awards Tips (1400m)

Best: 4. Flying Mikki. 1400m is unknown territory for this lightly raced ex-Queenslander, who has been ticking over well since joining the David Noonan stable ahead of this season.

The five-year-old hasn't finished out of the top four for the new yard and while he couldn't deliver when well placed back to this grade two starts back, he did lose both front plates in that December 14 tilt.

A wide draw forced a colder ride in his last assignment at The Valley and the gelding was strong late, with Flying Mikki running the fastest last 800m/600m/400m and 200m of that BM78.
Value: 16. Riverina Power. She does take a few runs to hit her straps and after having some excuses when held-up at Pakenham last start, Riverina Power was sent back to the jump-outs.

The four-year-old moved well when taking out a 1000m heat at Terang on January 2 and both career wins have come third-up over this distance, which includes a track/trip success last prep.

Riverina Power wasn't disgraced in two Group showings at the back-end of her first campaign and off what is predicted to be fast tempo, she'll can chime in late under Blaike McDougall.

Race 8 - 4:18PM Standish Handicap Tips (1200m)

Best: 9. Wonder Boy. After beating Pisces (subsequent Group 3 winner) in a debut triumph over this track/trip last winter, Wonder Boy was given short spell ahead of an August return.

The three-year-old was competitive second and third-up at Group 3 level, where he found 1100m too sharp fresh before a runner-up finish behind a smart sprinter in Growing Empire.

He never travelled when failing as a notable drifter in the market for his fourth start on soft ground (spring came too soon) and the son of Cosmic Force has completed three jump-outs ahead of this return.

Value: 3. Joyful Fortune. He was a two-time winner in Hong Kong before returning to Australia and Joyful Fortune bolted in at Flemington when resuming off a 14-month break.

The gelding remained unbeaten up the straight course when atoning from a defeat in the 2022 Everest and after changing hands a few times, he's now under the care of the Hayes yard.

There's an obvious query resuming off a decent layoff, however, he's won all four jump-outs ahead of this fresh tilt and he did beat Zoustyle in his last win, who is a rung above this lot.

Race 9 - 4:58PM Off The Track Trophy Tips (1600m)

Best: 7. Bianco Vilano. In arguably the most open race on the program, the early market is favouring Le Zebra (no fresh wins and 0/9 on good tracks) and Prince Eric (honest but one-paced).

With no winning form over 1600m, double figure odds are available for Bianco Vilano, who found the line with 60.5kg over this trip at Pakenham and he carries 3.5kg less here.

His form this season in better company has been sound, which includes an unlucky fourth when well backed in the Wodonga Cup third-up and a soft draw gives him a sniff at a mile.

Value: 5. British Columbia. While he has no fresh form, his lead-up work ahead of a Listed return was good and that 1100m Doveton Stakes resumption was a pass mark over an unsuitable trip.

British Columbia has been well held via his second and third-up appearances in December, however, nothing went right last start at The Valley (forced back early and never settled).

He bolted last campaign in this grade when defeating Nation's Call and Miracle Spin, while he beat a Group performer in Brayden Star via his fourth career victory, so he's certainly capable.

Race 10 - 5:38PM Jockey Assistance Program Plate Tips (1200m)

Best: 10. Rewards And More. Although he's up in grade for Saturday's fourth-up attempt, Rewards And More is one of the hard-fit and in-form gallopers contesting this 1200m affair.

He's won two of three outings this campaign and the four-year-old lost no admirers when chasing hard as runner-up behind an in-form Fickle, who completed a hat-trick at her next start.

Rewards And More saluted over 1200m when breaking through in his first campaign and that prep opened with a debut third over this track/trip, and Acid Wash (runner-up) absolutely bolted in next start.
Value: 14. Liberami. I wouldn't be surprised if Liberami got over a mile this time in, with the gelding set to resume in his third prep, although class can still take him a long way in this grade.

He progressed nicely last winter, with a third-up maiden triumph before three competitive metro efforts and the highlight was a last-to-first win over seven furlongs at Flemington.

After winning an 800m Cranbourne heat via his first December appearance, Liberami has been given very quiet hit-outs via his next two jump-outs (are they trying to get a price first-up?).
