In a battle to avoid last place, Sydney Thunder will face Melbourne Renegades in a crucial Big Bash League match. Despite a challenging season with a 1-7 record, the Thunder rely on David Warner's remarkable performances and hope to exploit the Renegades' inconsistent batting. The match promises a high-scoring game, with both teams lacking defensive depth. Predictions suggest David Warner will score over 30 runs and Josh Brown over 24.5, with a total match score exceeding 335.5. The Thunder are favored to leverage their home advantage at ENGIE Stadium.

Sydney Thunder vs Melbourne Renegades Big Bash League Expert Tips

The Thunder will take a step closer to avoiding last place in a battle for the wooden spoon between the two worst records in the BBL when they host the Renegades at ENGIE Stadium.

Amazingly the Thunder have only won once this season, despite the efforts of David Warner who has scored the second-most runs in the BBL this season, after scoring 279 runs over three games before losing his wicket.

The Renegades also haven’t had any run in BBL15 unable to find any sort of rhythm or consistency through their batting order besides Josh Brown.

Matches at ENGIE and Thunder matches in general see a lot of batting so that is where the props lie in this one. David Warner 30+ for Sydney and Brown over 24.5 for the ‘Gades with the match total going over 335.5.

The winner is a flip of the coin but it feels that the Thunder are due here and can take advantage of the lack of batting depth of the ‘Gades.

The Thunder have a 3-1-1 record against the Renegades in their last 5 matches.
David Warner has an average of 64.6 runs
Josh Brown has scored over 24.5 runs in 4 of his last 5 games.
The Thunder have a home match average game total of 341.2.

Sydney Thunder Form

Another massive 82-run performance from David Warner wasn’t enough to get the Thunder home in Brisbane as the Thunder have now lost 5 straight and are sitting all the way down the bottom of the ladder with a 1-7 record.

It is wild to think that David Warner’s 323 runs and 64.6 avg has not been enough to get the Thunder more victories but the bowling attack of Sydney has let them down.

The Thunder match totals are averaging 336.2 runs because Warner is posting scores and the bowlers are bleeding. Daniel Sams has taken 12 wickets this series, however it has cost the Thunder with an economy of 10.49 per over.

Melbourne Renegades Form

The Renegades were unable to fire in the Melbourne Derby as they watch their BBL season slowly start to slip away with a 3-4 record.

Getting sent into bat by the Stars, Josh Brown did all he could with 80 runs from 50 balls, however the Renegades couldn’t find anyone else in the batting order to hang with him long enough to put up a defendable total, finishing their overs with a score of 166/7.

It became a simple routine chase for the Stars with the bowling attack of the ‘Gades unable to get a breakthrough until 84 runs were already on the board and just 7.3 overs bowled.

Melbourne’s season isn’t over yet but they will likely need to win-out to stay in the hunt for a finals berth.
