Rafael Jodar’s meteoric rise continues at ATP Montreal as the 19-year-old, now World No. 15, faces Brandon Nakashima in the semi-finals. Jodar has dominated recent matches with straight-sets victories and is just one win away from a historic Top 10 breakthrough. Nakashima, though in strong form, has a less impressive semi-finals record and struggles against elite opponents. The consensus is that Jodar’s unstoppable momentum and superior confidence will lead him to the final with another commanding performance. Watch the match live to catch potential tennis history.

Rafael Jodar vs Brandon Nakashima ATP Montreal Tips, Prediction & Live Stream

Teenage sensation Rafael Jodar is simply on fire - the 19-year-old is backed to take care of Brandon Nakashima and continue his extraordinary run of form into a maiden Masters 1000 final in Montreal on Wednesday night.

Out of nowhere, Jodar is in the midst of putting together one of the most insane tour breakthroughs in tennis history. The Spaniard was ranked outside the top 500 a little over 12 months ago and started the year at No. 168 in the world. Now, Jodar is up to a live ranking of No. 11 and he will crack the top 10 with a title, which would break Boris Becker's 41-year record for the shortest amount of time to enter the top 10 after first making the top 100.

Jodar is coming off a clean 7-6 6-3 victory over an in-form Arthur Fils, his second win in as many tournaments over the Frenchman. He looks unstoppable right now, with his big serve and powerful groundstrokes dominating all-comers.

Meanwhile, Nakashima - incredibly - was the oldest of the eight Montreal quarter-finalists at the ripe age of 25, easing to a straight sets win over Luciano Darderi. Since linking up with Wayne Ferreira for the grass swing, Nakashima has made the semi-finals in three of four tournaments and has cracked the top 25 for the first time in the live rankings.

Nakashima can't be discounted, but Jodar is just on another level. The teenager is supremely confident and is playing with so much freedom. He's beaten Fils, Musetti and Lehecka in straight sets in his last three matches and he can register another straight sets victory to advance into the final here.
  • Jodar has won 28 of his last 34 matches
  • Five of Jodar's last seven wins have been in straight sets
  • Jodar has won 26 of his last 28 matches vs players outside the top 20
  • Jodar has a 2-1 record in semi-finals
  • Nakashima has lost nine of his last 10 semi-finals
  • Nakashima has a 4-21 record vs top 10 players, which is the level Jodar is playing at right now

This will be the first career meeting between the pair.

Rafael Jodar Form Analysis

  • 2026 ATP Record: 34-12
  • ATP Montreal Record: 4-0
  • Current Ranking: No. 15
  • Career-High Ranking: No. 15 (August 2026)

Jodar's rise has been one of the biggest stories on the ATP Tour, and the 19-year-old continues to reach new heights.

Ranked No. 540 in the world this time last year and No. 150 at the beginning of 2026, the Spaniard arrived in Montreal at a career-high No. 15 and is now just two wins away from breaking into the top 10.

Jodar has won 28 of his 34 matches since the start of the clay season, claiming his maiden ATP title in Marrakech while also reaching the quarter-finals in Madrid, Rome and Roland Garros.

He carried that momentum onto the North American hard courts, advancing to his first ATP 500 final in Washington before finishing runner-up to Taylor Fritz. Despite the quick turnaround, Jodar hasn't shown any signs of fatigue in Montreal, opening with a three-set victory over Corentin Moutet before recording straight-set wins over Lorenzo Musetti, Jiri Lehecka and Arthur Fils.

Jodar registered a 7-6(5), 6-3 win over Fils, which was an identical score to his win over the Frenchman in Washington a couple of weeks ago.

Brandon Nakashima Form Analysis

  • 2026 ATP Record: 26-15
  • ATP Montreal Record: 7-4
  • Current Ranking: No. 31
  • Career-High Ranking: No. 29 (2025)

Nakashima has put together a strong season and is up to No. 25 in the live rankings after making his maiden Masters 1000 semi-final.

While he has produced some encouraging results on clay and grass, including a third-round appearance at Roland Garros and a semi-final run at Queen's Club, hard courts remain his most successful surface.

Nakashima started the season by reaching the Brisbane final and the Acapulco semi-finals before carrying that form into the North American summer with another semi-final showing in Washington.

The 24-year-old has now won 11 of his last 14 matches after another impressive week in Montreal. He opened with a dominant 6-2, 6-1 victory over Daniel Altmaier before battling through consecutive three-set wins against Frenchmen Titouan Droguet and Arthur Rinderknech to reach the quarter-finals.

Nakashima then crushed Luciano Darderi 6-2, 6-3 in the last eight, advancing into his third semi-final in the last four tournaments on the back of 11 aces and winning 30/36 first serve points.
