Jannik Sinner vs Rafael Jodar Tips, Prediction & Live Stream

World No. 1 Jannik Sinner faces homegrown rising star Rafael Jodar for a spot in the Madrid Masters semi-finals on Wednesday in a blockbuster showdown.

Anticipation was high pre-tournament for Sinner taking on a Spanish superstar - but with Carlos Alcaraz absent through injury, Rafael Jodar has stepped up to the plate to delight the home fans. Jodar grew up in Madrid and has been the story of the tournament so far, continuing his remarkable rise with a maiden Masters 1000 quarter-final appearance and moving up to a live ranking of No. 34 after being outside the world's top 900 thirteen months ago.

It's been a ridiculous ascension and Jodar keeps going from strength to strength, beating the likes of Alex de Minaur and Joao Fonseca to make the last eight. Could the newest Spanish sensation shock the world on Wednesday?

It's obviously unlikely. Sinner continues to rewrite history and comes into this clash on a 20-match winning streak and 25-match winning run at Masters 1000 level. The Italian remains on course to become the first man to win five consecutive Masters 1000 titles.

Jodar has already proven himself as a star of the present and the altitude conditions suit his powerful game. He's confident and I think he can make at least one set competitive. But this is a huge step up in class and Sinner is obviously on a different level to everyone in the draw - he'll most likely come out on top, but the 19-year-old can push it Over 18.5 games.
  • Sinner has won his last 20 matches
  • Sinner has won his last 25 Masters 1000 matches
  • Sinner is 16-4 in Masters 1000 quarter-finals, winning his last eight
  • Sinner has won his last 16 clay matches vs players outside the top 30 dating back to 2023
  • Jodar has won 12 of his 13 matches on clay this year
  • Jodar is 2-0 in tour-level quarter-finals
  • Jodar is 1-1 vs top 10 players

Sinner vs Jodar Head To Head

This will be the first career meeting between the pair.

Jannik Sinner Form Analysis

  • 2026 Record: 27-2
  • ATP Madrid Record: 9-2
  • Current Ranking: No. 1
  • Career-High Ranking: No. 1 (2024)

It was a relatively disappointing start to the season for Sinner as he crashed out of the Australian Open in the semi-finals to Novak Djokovic before a shock defeat to Jakub Mensik in the Doha quarters.

However, the Italian has re-discovered his top form over the last couple of months and is now the undisputed best player in the world, regaining the No. 1 ranking from Carlos Alcaraz and primed to dominate for as long as the Spaniard is sidelined with a wrist injury.

After taking out the Paris Masters at the end of 2025, Sinner has extended his winning streak at 1000-level to 25 matches after securing the silverware in Indian Wells, Miami and Monte Carlo.

It's crazy to think with all of his achievements that Sinner has never made a semi-final in Madrid, but he will get that opportunity following victories over Benjamin Bonzi, Elmer Moller and Cameron Norrie over the last week in the Spanish capital.

Sinner emerged a 6-2 7-5 winner over Norrie in the R16 on Tuesday, not minding the rare 11am start time.

“Quite unusual for me,” Sinner said post-match. “I don’t know the last time I played at 11, but for me it doesn’t matter what time. I try to do my best… We try to adapt ourselves, our bodies and our minds. From my side, it was a good performance today.”

Rafael Jodar Form Analysis

  • 2026 Record: 17-7
  • ATP Madrid Record: 4-0
  • Current Ranking: No. 42
  • Career-High Ranking: No. 42 (April 2026)

It's been a meteoric rise for Jodar, who was ranked outside the world's top 900 in March 2025 but will end this tournament close to the top 30 and a seeding for the upcoming French Open.

Jodar has gone to another level since transitioning onto the clay, winning his maiden ATP title in Marrakech and also advancing to the Barcelona Open semi-finals, where it took the on-fire Arthur Fils to stop him in three.

The 19-year-old has continued his blistering form in his home tournament of Madrid, advancing to his maiden Masters 1000 quarter-final.

After a gritty three-set win over Jesper de Jong in the opening round, Jodar secured his first top 10 win with a crushing 6-3 6-1 triumph over Alex de Minaur before backing it up with a brilliant 7-6(4) 4-6 6-1 victory over fellow 19-year-old Joao Fonseca.

Jodar then dropped a bagel on Vit Kopriva, easing to a 7-5 6-0 win to set up Wednesday's mouthwatering clash with Sinner.

"It’s going to be very exciting to play Jannik for the first time, and to do so in my own city", Jodar said. "I have to take it point by point".
