Alexei Popyrin is set to face Kamil Majchrzak in the Dubai Tennis Championships amid a challenging phase for Popyrin, who hasn't secured victories against any top 100 players since July last year. Currently struggling with confidence issues, Popyrin enters as a slight favorite, but his form suggests a challenging match against Majchrzak, who has shown decent performance recently. Picking Majchrzak to win seems prudent as Popyrin might struggle under the pressure of facing a lower-ranked player.

Alexei Popyrin vs Kamil Majchrzak Tips, Prediction & Live Stream

Alexei Popyrin is desperate to return to winning ways as he begins his Dubai Tennis Championships campaign on Tuesday against Kamil Majchrzak.

It's been an absolutely dire run of form for Popyrin - he hasn't beaten a top 100 player since the Canada Masters in July last year. The Aussie is down on confidence and I'm surprised to see the market place him as a slight favourite in this clash. Majchrzak is by no means a world beater, but he's been in decent form over the last few months and one spot off his career-high ranking of No. 55. The Pole is a solid 5-6 in his last 11 matches against top 50 opponents and has nothing to fear on the other side of the net at the moment.

To me, Popyrin looks at a complete career crossroads right now and all the pressure is on him. I think facing players ranked below him right now is worse for Popyrin, because he has more pressure - playing higher-ranked guys would allow him to swing more freely without expectation, like last week's decent performance against Jannik Sinner. I can't justify backing Popyrin against basically anyone at the moment, so Majchrzak gets the nod in a tight one.
  • Popyrin has lost his last 12 matches vs top 100 players
  • Five of those last six defeats have seen Over 21.5 games
  • Majchrzak has gone 5-6 in his last 11 matches vs top 50 players
  • Popyrin's last three defeats in Dubai have been vs players ranked No. 99 or lower
  • Nine of Majchrzak's last 10 best-of-three matches have seen Over 21.5 games

Popyrin vs Majchrzak Head To Head

This will be the first tour-level meeting between the pair.

Alexei Popyrin Form Analysis

  • 2026 Record: 1-5
  • ATP Dubai Record: 3-4
  • Current Ranking: No. 47
  • Career-High Ranking: No. 19 (August 2025)

It's been an alarming fall from grace for Popyrin, but somehow he's managed to stay inside the top 50.

The Aussie hasn't beaten a top 100 player since last year's Canada Masters - the tournament that he stunned the tennis world by winning in 2024, which he followed up by beating Novak Djokovic at the US Open.

However, that form has deserted him completely, with Popyrin losing in the first round of every event he contested during the Aussie summer, while he also crashed out of the Manama Challenger in the first round to the World No. 142.

Popyrin claimed his first win of 2026 last week in Dubai, but it came against an unranked local wildcard that a lot of club players could probably beat. The 26-year-old remains under huge pressure heading into Dubai.

Kamil Majchrzak Form Analysis

  • 2026 Record: 3-3
  • ATP Dubai Record: 0-0
  • Current Ranking: No. 56
  • Career-High Ranking: No. 55 (Feb 2026)

Majchrzak arrives at this tournament basically in career-best form after a solid last few months that sees him on the verge of breaking into the top 50 for the first time.

The Pole made the third round of the US Open and Shanghai Masters towards the end of last year, which were his best major and Masters 1000 results.

Majchrzak continued his good form to launch the year in Brisbane, where he made the quarter-finals before going down in three sets to eventual champion Daniil Medvedev.

The 30-year-old made the second round of the Australian Open and was edged out in three sets by eventual finalist Arthur Fils in the first round of Doha last week. Majchrzak is making his Dubai main draw debut this tournament.
