Melbourne City is on the brink of securing a spot in the A-League finals as they prepare to face Brisbane Roar at Suncorp Stadium. Currently in sixth place, City must win this Saturday's game to solidify their position. They have shown a significant recovery with four wins in the last five matches, an essential boost for their season. Player Marcus Younis stands out with notable contributions in recent games. Brisbane Roar vs Melbourne City Tips & Prediction

Melbourne City will be looking to book their ticket into the A-League finals when they face lowly Brisbane Roar at Suncorp Stadium on Saturday.

City have struggled for the bulk of the A-League season, but unsurprisingly they've stepped it up when it matters most, winning four of their last five games to put their finals destiny in their own hands. With a five-point buffer to Macarthur in seventh, City simply need to win this game in order to confirm their place in the top six.

Meanwhile, Brisbane have been in absolutely woeful form throughout 2026 - again, it was largely expected they'd experience a downturn in form after overachieving with some terrible football at the start of the campaign.

It's the perfect game for City to continue their finals preparations and A-League premiership defence - backing the visitors to come away with all three points, while a clean sheet also looks on the cards. Marcus Younis has been one of the form players in the competition since joining City in January and has four score involvements in his last two games - backing the exciting young winger to find the back of the net for a third consecutive match.

  • Roar have gone winless in their last 10 games
  • City have seen BTTS - No in four of their last six A-League games

  • Marcus Younis has four goals + assists in his last two games, including scoring twice

Brisbane Roar vs Melbourne City Head To Head

These two teams played out a 0-0 stalemate back in Round 3 before Max Caputo's early goal in the 11th minute handed City a 1-0 win in Round 20.

Brisbane Roar Form Analysis

It's been a hugely disappointing fall from grace this season for Brisbane, with the side winning just one match in 2026.

The Roar were firmly entrenched inside the top six at the start of the season, but they've been poor throughout the opening three-and-a-half months of 2026 and still aren't out of wooden spoon contention yet.

Brisbane would need to lose their last two games (very possible), but the Wanderers would also need to win their last two fixtures in order for the Roar to finish rock bottom.

The Roar have been stubborn lately though - Michael Valkanis' side have drawn four of their last five games, including spoiling Central Coast's finals charge last week with a 2-2 draw as Jordan Lauton equalised with a late header.

Melbourne City Form Analysis

City struggled for much of this season, but have found some form at the business end of the campaign to have their finals destiny in their own hands.

A run of four wins from five games have propelled City into sixth spot on the ladder, four points ahead of Macarthur, who dropped crucial points last week against Perth. City are also five points clear of Wellington in eighth.

After beating the Wanderers 3-0 and Central Coast 2-1, City made it three wins on the trot with last week's 2-0 dispatch of Wellington at home.

Aziz Behich opened the scoring for City before Marcus Younis doubled their advantage with his fourth goal since joining the club on loan in January.
