Wodonga hosts an eight-race program on Tuesday, September 1, with an even split of Maiden races and Benchmark 56 handicaps.

The track is currently rated a Soft 7, with the rail out three metres for the entire circuit.

Wodonga Tips September 1

Naubro Kerb Maiden Plate Tips (Race 2)

Wodonga Value Bet - Race 2 No. 9 Very Famous

Very Famous has produced creditable efforts in all three starts on wet ground, including when fifth over 1400m at this circuit last time.

Ridden cold from barrier seven on a Heavy 8, the mare finished eight lengths from the winner but kept working to the line in a race dominated by those on speed.

The winner led throughout and scored by three-and-a-half lengths, while the runner-up also raced prominently, adding some merit to Very Famous' effort from back in the field.

The daughter of Nicconi had been freshened before that run and the return to this distance should suit, although another wide draw likely means she will again be ridden with restraint.

Lachlan King has partnered the Dom Sutton-trained mare in her past two starts and stays aboard as Very Famous looks capable of breaking through at start eight.

Wodonga Roughie - Race 5 No. 1 Lord Domino

A previous Wodonga victory gives Lord Domino some appeal at a bigger price, with the veteran having won a Benchmark 58 here in August last year.

The nine-year-old has been relatively lightly raced since and has made just two appearances so far in 2026.

He resumed at this level just over two weeks ago and, despite finishing with only one runner behind him over 1100m on Heavy ground, the effort was fair given the trip was on the sharp side.

The rise in distance should suit and he has shown previously that testing conditions are no issue.

Brittany Button knows Lord Domino well from several previous rides and her claim should assist as he looks to improve sharply second-up.

Wodonga Best Bet - Race 7 No. 3 Star Royal

Star Royal has turned her form around since the addition of a tongue tie, putting a disappointing Wagga run three starts ago behind her with two much better efforts.

The latest saw her break through over 1400m at this circuit, where she raced prominently on a Heavy 8 and proved far too strong.

She led for much of the contest before drawing clear to score by three-and-a-half lengths, producing easily the best performance of her short career.

A slightly firmer surface should not pose any concerns, while the rise in distance looks suitable given the way she finished off that maiden victory.

Still open to improvement at just her seventh career start, the Craig Widdison-trained mare should roll forward again from barrier seven and looks well placed to make it back-to-back wins.

Raffbro Electrical BM56 Handicap Tips (Race 8)

Wodonga Next Best Bet - Race 8 No. 1 Lightning Flash

A strong wet-track record gives Lightning Flash plenty in her favour, with three wins from eight previous starts on Heavy ground.

That includes a narrow victory over this track and trip two starts ago in a similar race, before she backed up six days later at Wangaratta and was narrowly beaten on Soft ground.

The seven-year-old raced closer to the speed than usual last time and stuck to the inside before being run down late by a strong-finishing stablemate.

Barrier six should allow her to return to her preferred hold-up pattern, while the forecast conditions are again suitable.

Brodie Loy reunites with Lightning Flash after partnering her to the recent track-and-trip victory and, despite conceding weight to her rivals, she looks capable of taking out the finale.
