Best Bet:
Race 5 No. 6 Chilly Charlie
Ciaron Maher’s gelding has been in good form this prep. including when saluting on soft ground in a 1600m Class 1 plate contest at Canberra in May.
The grey impressed that day and backed that effort up with a close second in a 1600m Benchmark 64 handicap held on a sound surface at Bendigo at the end of that month.
The son of Frosted has raced on Ballarat’s synthetic track twice subsequentl, finishing fourth each time, including in a 1500m Benchmark 64 handicap two weeks ago.
Linda Meech, on board that day, is again set to ride here, with the drop in grade and return to turf both positives on Tuesday.
While barrier nine isn’t ideal here, Chilly Charlier should be able to get across to race on the pace and he looks up to recording the third win of his career.
Next Best:
Race 7 No. 5 Mistavain
The four-year-old has been in good form in recent months, including when saluting by two lengths at Mildura in May.
Mistavain contested a 1000m Benchmark 0-58 handicap that day and he backed that effort up with a good fourth over 975m here.
The gelding raced at Benchmark 70 handicap level when racing on a soft surface that day, with his Mildura win having come on good going.
Austy Coffey’s representative has been beaten less than half-a-length in each of his last two starts, including over 1200m back at Mildura recently.
He raced in a Benchmark 64 handicap on that occasion, with the sixth home boosting the form with a win at Echuca subsequently.
Market Mover:
Race 3 No. 6 Welcometotheshow
The three-year-old has finished in the first three in all four previous starts, including when placing second in both outings this prep.
The son of Showtime has placed at metro level in the past and arrives here on the back of a defeat by just under one-and-a-half-lengths over 1000m at Seymour.
After opening at $1.95 with Unibet Australia, Welcometotheshow is now a $1.70 favourite.

The seven-year-old has been in good form on wet tracks in recent starts, completing a double when saluting over 1200m at Mount Gambier earlier this month.
