Sandown Next Best Bet - Race 3 No. 8 Last Druid

He had excuses first-up at Wyong, where the Godolphin galloper was wide throughout with 61kg before finding traffic, while Last Druid carries 6.5kg less and draws kinder for this second-up assignment.

The son of Brazen Beau has campaigned in Melbourne, which includes a second on debut behind Flyer (subsequent Group 3 winner) and he was runner-up to Lovelycut (stakes placed next start) second-up last winter.

Last Druid just missed Blue Stratum (Group 3 fourth next start) following that, where he ran the fastest closing sectionals of that Moonee Valley card and he was gelded ahead of this prep.

Quayclean Handicap Tips (Race 6)

Sandown Best Bet - Race 6 No. 9 Zloties

This Grahame Begg-trained mare is suited up to 1300m after a solid return on the Lakeside circuit, where she ran the second-fastest last 200m of the card and Merrigold (runner-up) franked that form last week.

While she's out of mares company, this is still an easier task for Zloties, who was a second-up winner over this track/trip last campaign before narrowly missing behind Zaszou in a hat-trick bid.

Zaszou saluted again at her next outing and she defeated Elphinstone in the process (Listed winner on Monday), while Zloties was Group 3 competitive in Sydney before being spelled.

Lockettled.au Handicap Tips (Race 7)

Sandown Value Bet - Race 7 No. 10 Lavalier

This Godolphin three-year-old is superbly bred, with Lavalier a younger half-brother to five stakes winners, which includes Epaulette and Helmet (both Group 1 winners).

He showed potential throughout a long and spaced-out first campaign, with the youngster breaking through at start two before getting warm late when third behind Evaporate (Group 2 winner that prep) at The Valley.

Lavalier was gelded after the spring and after being completely unsuited over 1350m via a leader-dominated race first-up on February 27, 1600m and a bigger track are both positives for this second-up tilt.

Sportsbet More Places Handicap Tips (Race 8)

Sandown Roughie - Race 8 No. 6 Callmeanicon

After recording a stylish return victory in a Pakenham BM58 on August 5, Callmeanicon handled the rise to metro level when taking out a 1500m BM64 on the Lakeside circuit.

The four-year-old wasn't far off completing a hat-trick when runner-up to Haaracaine on September 22 at Flemington and that winner was then in the market for the Group 2 Herbert Power Stakes.

With just eight starts completed over two preps, there's still some upside with Callmeanicon, who goes straight to 1500m for this fresh attempt and she's completed two 1000m February jump-outs at Pakenham.
