The son of Levendi showed up well in his trials prior to making his debut over 1200m at this venue in May.

The youngster failed to shine when beaten nearly thirteen lengths on a Soft 5 track in that initial outing.

He was spelled following that effort and returned with two 800m barrier trials at Longford ahead of his Hobart run last month.

That seasonal debut delivered a sharp improvement when finishing just under two lengths from the winner in third at big odds.

The rise to 1400m looks suitable and from a wide draw he can settle off the pace and prove value under Craig Newitt.

Launceston Best Bet - Race 3 No. 5 Snow Eagle

The four-year-old has proven effective on wet tracks, including when winning first up over this distance at Hobart last prep.

She followed that victory with two 1600m placings at Hobart, including a late-August effort that has since produced multiple winners.

The mare resumed with a third placing in a 1000m Hobart barrier trial earlier this month for trainer Jessie Bazan.

She goes well fresh and her only previous run here came at Listed level, making that failure easy to forgive.

Apprentice Jabez Johnstone has a strong record for the yard and they can build on that combination with a win here.

Launceston Next Best Bet - Race 7 No. 3 Lady Galadriel

Lady Galadriel showed talent at this venue as a three-year-old when winning two of her three appearances.

Those wins included a debut Soft 5 success over 1200m before repeating the dose with a measured ride in the 3yo Classic.

She lost her unbeaten record when third here in March and was spelled following that performance.

Two soft-ground trials ahead of her return suggested she had come back well and she confirmed that with a third over 1200m last month.

The anticipated wet track and drop to 1100m both appeal and she looks well placed to make amends for her recent defeat.

Jackson's Security Newmarket Handicap (Listed) Tips (Race 8)

Launceston Feature Bet - Race 8 No. 6 Geegees Gemstone

Geegees Gemstone won this race last year and followed with two solid efforts at this track, including a half-length third in the Ladbrokes Stakes.

His campaign tapered off with two below-par runs, the last of which came here in February before he was transferred to Mark Walker.

He resumed at Cranbourne last month when never involved, finishing sixth of seven at $16 in a 1200m event.

The gelding has since rejoined the Stuart Gandy stable and arrives off a strong third in a Hobart trial earlier this month.

Barrier nine suits his pattern and a return to wet ground, the same conditions he won this race under last year, is a major plus.
