Grafton Roughie - Race 3 No. 6 Dusk Over Dubai
Despite resuming off a lengthy absence, Dusk Over Dubai has been specked at long odds in the early markets and perhaps connections are setting her up for a bet on return.
She showed some potential early, with an unlucky debut effort before being well-held in two subsequent attempts and the mare trialled well in two April heats at Grafton this year.
After working under apprentices via those autumn hit-out's, Dusk Over Dubai was given a let-up before an ice cold ride on July 6 and Ben Looker sticks from that last heat.
Era Legal Belflyer Association Class 6 Tips (Race 6)
Grafton Value Bet - Race 6 No. 7 Volcanic Love
As an $8 chance off a decent lead-up trial here, more was expected from Volcanic Love in his Eagle Farm resumption on July 2, although that return effort can be forgiven.
Volcanic Love found himself back in an on-speed dominated race via that recent metro resumption and he now returns to his home track, where he's never finished out of the money.
The four-year-old was a Saturday Brisbane winner in February before an unlucky attempt at a Country Qualifier and he's a much better horse than what we saw earlier this month.
Westlawn Finance Grafton Cup Tips (Race 7)
Grafton Feature Bet - Race 7 No. 7 Quietness
Off an encouraging Australian debut over 1600m, Quietness was very well placed second-up when rising in distance to contest the Listed Tattersall's Gold Crown.
While she seemingly threw that last assignment away, a hard-fit winner who never went around a horse took out that Listed event and there's still improvement to come with this import.
There's some reasonable competition, however, aside from Belvedere Boys, who has to overcome both a wide draw and a big weight rise, we've seen the ceiling of most of her key rivals.
Sir James Kirby Quality Tips (Race 8)
Grafton Best Bet - Race 8 No. 3 Burning Bell
This Toby Edmonds-trained galloper saluted on this meeting last year, where Burning Bell only just saw out 1400m in the Mother's Gift and she's better suited at 1000m-1200m.
A metro victory was taken off her two starts back and she was contesting some handy races prior to that, with a Magic Millions attempt coming off the back of two Listed assignments.
Burning Bell has a win and three placings from four first-up runs, so she's expected to come to handy early, especially off two June trials (won her first and then ran into a slick Steady Ready in a fast heat).
