Cranbourne Roughie - Race 4 No. 6 So Vogue
Ben Brisbourne’s gelding has shown ability in five starts to date, including when placing second twice in May.
The most recent of those runner-up finishes saw him beaten less than a length when contesting a 2100m maiden at Echuca.
While both of those second-place finishes came on good going, the son of So You Think has raced on wet tracks in his two most recent starts.
The gelding could finish only seventh over 2124m at Echuca in the first of those, but he showed up better at Wodonga last time.
So Vogue was beaten less than two-and-a-half-lengths in finishing fifth over 2050m that day and he is expected to be ridden with restraint.
With those tactics in mind, a wide barrier shouldn’t pose too many issues in this event, while Lachlan King taked the ride after being apprentice-ridden last time out.
Mitavite Athlete Plus BM64 Handicap Tips (Race 6)
Cranbourne Value Bet - Race 6 No. 11 Adelante
With a number of these expected to want to go forward from the barriers, this race may well be set up for a closer.
The lightly-raced New Zealand-bred fits the bill in that regard, having made just four starts to date.
Two of those efforts came in her native country, including when impressing with a four-length victory in a 1230m maiden at Arawa Park in November.
The filly won on a good 3 track day having performed well when placing on a heavy 8 track on debut and she joined current trainer Mark Walker following her maiden win.
Adelante has been out of the money in both Australian starts, however, she has been beaten less than three-and-a-half-lengths on each occasion, including at Bendigo last time.
The daughter of Swiss Ace came home sixth in a 1000m Benchmark 64 handicap held on a Heavy 8 surface that day and a return to 1200m suits.
Ladbrokes Quick Multi 0-64 Handicap Tips (Race 7)
Cranbourne Best Bet - Race 7 No. 3 Mr Vivaci
The four-year-old showed good form last prep, including when breaking through for his first win at Yarra Valley in February.
The gelding jumped from next to the rail prior to coming home nine lengths clear of his nearest rival when racing over 1514m that day.
The son of Tivaci faced winners for the first time when jumping at $2 for a four-runner Benchmark 64 event at Moonee Valley just under three weeks later.
While he could finish only third that day, he delivered a better effort dropped back to 1400m for a Benchmark 64 handicap at Sandown in March.
Mr Vivaci was beaten just over half-a-length when finishing fifth =, having jumped from barrier twelve that day and he again has a wide alley here.
The form of that Sandown contest has a solid look to it and having trialled well ahead of his return to action, Chris Waller’s representative looks up to recording a first-up win.
Freeway Ford BM64 Handicap Tips (Race 8)
Cranbourne Next Best Bet - Race 8 No. 7 Renovation Show
The four-year-old has recorded some good efforts in defeat this prep, including when racing on wet tracks in each of his last three starts.
The second of those outings saw the gelding beaten just under four lengths when contesting a 1600m Benchmark 70 handicap at Mornington last month.
Renovation Show came home fourth, having been slowly away when racing on a Heavy 9 track and he took a step forward at Bendigo later that month.
He came home just under two lengths behind the winner in finishing third when dropped to a 1500m Benchmark 64 handicap at Bendigo.
The son of Showtime raced from the front on each occasion and similar tactics are expected from barrier seven.
Jockey Jamie Mott is set to partner the gelding for the first time since 2023 and his mount looks capable of recording his first win of the season.
