The meeting presents a balanced set of betting races, with several runners resuming off soft jump-outs and others looking to build on recent spring form, creating genuine opportunities through the middle and back-end events.

Geelong Tips November 26

McGrath Estate Agents Maiden Plate Tips (Race 3)

Geelong Roughie - Race 3 No. 6 Red Barron

He's returning off a lengthy absence, with his two outings coming over the 2024 Melbourne Cup Carnival, although Red Barron was in work over winter and after another spell, he has completed two spring jump-outs leading into this resumption.

In the Group 3 Maribyrnong Plate on debut, he made some inroads from the rear of that 1000m contest and picked up late after hitting a flat spot in the Inglis Banner, although he never threatened.

From the same family as multiple Group 1 winners All Silent and Private Steer, Red Barron resumes as a gelding and Ben Allen has gate one at his disposal.

That inside draw gives Red Barron the chance to settle closer than he did as a youngster.

He returns with maturity and a softer map, which should help him show more than he did in his first preparation.

Geelong Next Best Bet - Race 5 No. 5 Too Tough

The Cindy Alderson stable is in good touch, with six winners and three placegetters from her last 14 starters, and she prepares Too Tough, a four-year-old who was in the market on debut at Mornington and made ground from last for an eye-catching second despite failing to muster early speed.

There is natural improvement to come at start two, especially given the way he stretched out late on debut.

He wasn't working around slouches in his spring jump-outs, with a third behind the smart Tennessee Bound who won her first three starts.

A pushed-out Otago, a city-class galloper, got the better of him in another heat, which added depth to his preparation.

Too Tough then produced a quiet showing in another strong heat, giving him a well-rounded grounding for his second-up attempt.

Geelong Value Bet - Race 7 No. 1 Dirty Grin

His only time finishing out of the top two in five first-up attempts was a debut ninth, with two seconds and a victory coming from his next four return runs.

There hasn't been much to take out of his recent jump-outs, which have been very quiet, and he completed similar work before saluting fresh at Benalla last campaign.

Three wins and a third came from his first four outings this year, which reinforced his consistency in these benchmark grades.

Dirty Grin only just missed in May when well up in class for a BM84 at Caulfield, which reads strongly for this level.

Six furlongs is about his sweet spot and Rhys McLeod takes this fresh engagement, having partnered him for two of his last three wins.

The Toddy & Kingy Time-Honoured Shield Tips (Race 8)

Geelong Best Bet - Race 8 No. 10 Seethru

With just the six starts, Seethru is still lightly raced for a five-year-old and he broke through in style at start two before a spell.

He didn't fire a shot in two winter runs and a freshen-up did the trick, with back-to-back seconds recorded via his last two starts.

The form around those races has been excellent, having fought back for a narrow loss when runner-up to Flying Valley and beating home Shiny New Deel, a metro winner at his next start.

He was no match for Zambardo at his latest, but he put 2.25 lengths on Gates, who won two starts later, while Zambardo then won a BM78 in style before a Group 1 Champions Stakes second behind Via Sistina.

Seethru brings that consistent profile to a very suitable race to close the twilight card.
