Bendigo Tips July 27

Apiam Animal Health 3yo Fillies Maiden Plates Tips (Race 2)

Bendigo Next Best Bet - Race 2 No. 1 Bohemian Angel

The youngster has demonstrated a good level of ability in two starts to date, with a second and a fourth over her first prep.

The first of those efforts saw the Bohemian Angel beaten half-a-length into second when contesting a 1000m maiden here at the start of March.

The filly raced from mid-division when racing on a Good 4 track that day and she encountered similar underfoot conditions at Pakenham next time.

She could finish only fourth on that occasion, however, the three-year-old was bumped at the start and forced to race four wide and without cover.

The daughter of Harry Angel was spelled following that Pakenham effort and she showed up well in taking out an 800m jump out back at Pakenham at the start of this month.

Peter Moody & Katherine Coleman’s representative is set to race on a wet track for the first time here and while that is a slight concern, she is taken to resume with a win.

Bendigo Roughie - Race 4 No. 6 Quick Qudos

The British-bred galloper made just one start in his native countr,  placing second on the synthetic track at Wolverhampton in November last year.

The three-year-old finished sixth in each of his first two starts for current trainer Ciaron Maher, including when beaten nine lengths over 1500m at Ballarat first-up.

Quick Qudos went on to be beaten just over ten lengths stepped up to 2025m on a Good 4 track at Cranbourne the following month.

The son of Siyouni took a step forward when returning to a wet track for a 2000m maiden held on a soft 7 surface at Warracknabeal just over two weeks ago.

He came home just over two lengths back in fourth, finishing strongly in the style of a horse who is likely to appreciate the extra distance he gets here.

Jamie Mott is set to ride for the first time here and he may prove capable of springing a surprise.

Donna Philpot Memorial BM64 Handicap Tips (Race 5)

Bendigo Best Bet - Race 5 No. 5 Quello Dorato

Danny O’Brien’s representative placed third at Geelong in both starts this prep and he has shown improvement since finishing sixth at the same venue on his return to action.

The son of Trapeze Artist was beaten just over four lengths when contesting a 1200m maiden held on a Soft 6 track that day.

The drop in distance didn’t appear to suit that day, however, he showed improvement when breaking through at Sale next time.

Quello Dorato came home two lengths clear of his nearest rival when racing on a heavy 10 surface on that occasion, with four-year-old racing on the pace that day.

He again settled handy when placing third in a similar race to this over course and distance two weeks ago, which was a good effort coming out of maiden grade.

An inside barrier is a positive here, while he'll be hard-fit on testing ground.

Bendigo Value Bet - Race 8 No. 1 Belthil

The five-year-old managed just one placed effort from six starts last prep, with that coming in a 1500m event at Moonee Valley at the end of December.

Racing in a metro Benchmark 70 handicap that day, the gelding was beaten less than a length when racing on a Good 4 track.

Belthil aced from off the pace that day and was spelled following a last-of-eight in a similar event held over 1400m at Sandown two starts later.

He headed into his first start this prep without a public trial and Belthil delivered a good effort in finishing fourth over 1300m at this venue.

The gelding finished strongly on a Heavy 8 track, having been ridden cold in a Benchmark 64 handicap on that occasion.

The extra 100m Andrew Bobbin’s representative tackles here is in his favour and while he's yet to win on a heavy track, Belthil handled wet ground a fortnight ago.
