Essendon Bombers vs Fremantle Dockers AFL 2026 Round 10 FAQ’s

Fremantle look like the real deal right now and there is no reason to jump off them against an Essendon side sitting 1-8. The Dockers have now won eight straight games and continue to find different ways to beat quality opposition, including last week’s comeback win over Hawthorn.

Essendon have been more competitive than recent scorelines suggest, especially in patches against GWS, but they are still leaking far too many easy scores defensively. The Bombers are conceding 114 points per game across their last five matches and now run into one of the most balanced teams in the competition.

The Essendon back half has been their real concern this season and Fremantle will look to attack through their multiple goal scoring options they have found in 2026. Jye Amiss, Josh Traecy and Patrick Voss have all been consistent inside 50 for the Dockers, something that is making them as dangerous as they have ever been for a premiership push.

Jye Amiss shapes as the best goal kicking prop, presenting the best value. Essendon’s key defensive stocks remain unsettled and Fremantle’s ball movement inside 50 continues to create quality looks for their forwards.

Fremantle have won eight straight matches.
Essendon has conceded 125.5 points per game in their last 4 matches.
The Dockers have conceded an average of 68.8 points in their last 8 matches.
Jye Amiss has kicked 13 goals in his last 5 matches.

Head to Head Stats

The Dockers won comfortably in their 2025 matchup against the Bombers, powering to a 41-point victory at Optus Stadium.

Fremantle have won 3 of the last 4 matches against Essendon by a minimum of 32 points.

Essendon Bombers Form Analysis

Essendon showed genuine fight against GWS last week and actually controlled large parts of the game through midfield pressure and inside 50 dominance before fading late. Peter Wright, Nate Caddy and Archer May all looked dangerous forward of centre, while Darcy Parish and Mason Redman made successful returns to the senior side.

The problem remains defence. The Bombers have conceded 103, 143 and 137 points across their last three losses and continue to struggle once opposition teams gain momentum through the corridor. Brad Scott’s side is competing harder than the ladder suggests, but the lack of defensive stability is costing them badly.

Fremantle Dockers Form Analysis

Fremantle are playing with enormous confidence and last week’s comeback win over Hawthorn only strengthened their premiership credentials. The Dockers kicked the final five goals of the match and dominated territory late as their pressure completely overwhelmed the Hawks.

Caleb Serong, Andrew Brayshaw and Luke Jackson continue to drive the midfield, while the forward line is finally clicking with Josh Treacy, Jye Amiss and Michael Frederick all in strong form.

Justin Longmuir’s side has now won eight straight games and looks one of the most complete teams in the AFL right now.
