Vacherot famously came from nowhere (well outside the top 200 to be exact) to capture the Shanghai Masters title late last year and he's maintained strong form since, not suffering any real letdown and now he's on the cusp of cracking the world's top 20. Meanwhile, Fils has made a triumphant return from a long-term back injury and is coming off a 55-minute demolition of Stefanos Tsitsipas in his previous round - declaring it was one of the finest performances of his career.

The 27-year-old has backed up his stunning Shanghai Masters title run by reaching the quarter-finals of the Paris Masters to end 2025, while he's been consistent so far in 2026, reaching quarter-finals in Adelaide and Acapulco, along with the third round at the Australian Open and Indian Wells.

Vacherot has advanced into the R16 of yet another Masters 1000 in Miami this week on his tournament debut, beating Mariano Navone 6-3 6-4 before edging out Matteo Berrettini 7-6 6-4.

Continuing his improvement, Fils reached the Indian Wells Masters quarter-finals last week, defeating Felix Auger-Aliassime along the way, while he's backed it up with another solid run in Miami after making the last eight at this tournament 12 months ago.

After easing past Darwin Blanch in his opening match, Fils completely dismantled Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-0 6-1 in just 55 minutes to surge into the last 16.

"That's one of the best matches I've ever played," Fils said afterwards.

"I have played some great matches before, but this level was insane. I don't know what to say, but very happy with the performance."
