At the Monte Carlo Masters, Carlos Alcaraz faces an in-form Francisco Cerundolo, who boasts the most match victories in 2025. Despite Alcaraz's inconsistent season and prior losses, his experience makes him the favorite, having beaten Cerundolo twice before. Cerundolo's stellar form on clay adds intrigue, as he recently defeated Fabio Fognini and holds a noteworthy win over Alexander Zverev. The Argentine aims to challenge Alcaraz, who will strive for his first Monte Carlo victory. The match can be live-streamed via Unibet, with betting options available.

Carlos Alcaraz vs Francisco Cerundolo Tips, Prediction & Live Stream

One of the standout matches on Wednesday at the Monte Carlo Masters pits Carlos Alcaraz up against the in-form Francisco Cerundolo.

Cerundolo has been one of the best players in the world throughout 2025 - in fact, nobody has won more matches this season heading into Monte Carlo at tour-level than the Argentine (17). Cerundolo has won at least two matches at all six events he's played so far this year, but he will need to produce his best tennis in order to extend that record.

I do believe Cerundolo is a chance - Alcaraz has been wildly inconsistent all season, even more than usual and I'm not sure a transition back to clay is going to magically spark some sustained run of top level tennis. In saying that, Alcaraz was the undisputed best player of the European summer last year and he will be determined to get back to winning ways in Monte Carlo, where he has never won a match. Cerundolo has covered a +4.5 games line in his last 12 matches, so I'm backing the Argentine to keep this match competitive, but Alcaraz has the slight edge.

Head To Head

Alcaraz leads 2-0 at tour-level, including coming back from 1-4 down in the second set to emerge victorious 6-3 7-6 in the Indian Wells quarter-finals last month.

Carlos Alcaraz Form

Alcaraz comes into this contest with a 15-4 record on the season and yet to fully hit his stride.

The Spaniard was hugely disappointing in losing to an injured Novak Djokovic in four sets in the Australian Open quarter-finals, but bounced back to take home the Rotterdam silverware with a win over Alex de Minaur in the final.

However, Alcaraz has suffered some relatively poor defeats in his last few tournaments, going down to Jiri Lehecka in Doha, Jack Draper at Indian Wells and worryingly, veteran David Goffin in his Miami Masters opener.

Alcaraz's only previous appearance in Monte Carlo came back in 2022, where he suffered a first round exit to Sebastian Korda.

Francisco Cerundolo Form

Cerundolo heads into this clash with a stellar 17-7 record for the year, winning more matches than anyone on tour.

The Argentine has played more than half of his 24 matches on clay, so obviously he will be looking forward to the European clay summer over the next couple of months.

As mentioned, Cerundolo has been remarkably consistent, winning at least two matches at all six tournaments he's played in 2025, including claiming his best win by ranking when he beat No. 2 Alexander Zverev in Buenos Aires.

After reaching the Miami Masters quarter-finals, Cerundolo opened his Monte Carlo campaign with a crushing 6-0 6-3 win over Fabio Fognini.

Verdict

Nobody has won more matches than Cerundolo in 2025 and the Argentine played Alcaraz close at Indian Wells last month.

I'm backing Cerundolo to cover a +4.5 games line, with Alcaraz prevailing in three offering some value.
