Alex de Minaur vs Valentin Vacherot Tips, Prediction & Live Stream
Alex de Minaur will be up against both Valentin Vacherot and the home Monte Carlo crowd when the pair square off for a place in the semi-finals on Friday.
Vacherot's rise from outside the top 200 and into a live ranking of No. 19 over the last eight months has been absolutely extraordinary - he's now won 18 of his last 21 matches at Masters 1000 level and with his quarter-final run here in Monte Carlo, he's the first Monegasque player in the Open Era to record that achievement.
Can Vacherot keep it going like he did in Shanghai to become the lowest-ranked Masters 1000 champion since the series began in 1990? He's a chance, but it's doubftul.
Vacherot has survived three extremely taxing matches and the last player you want to face under a big of fatigue and heavy legs is De Minaur, who will become a brick wall and relentlessly get the ball back in play. De Minaur is into the Monte Carlo quarter-finals for the third straight year (the first Aussie ever to do that) and has a tremendous recent record on clay against players outside the top 20.
I think Vacherot plays some inspired tennis for part of this match - enough to push it over 21.5 games - but fatigue could set in as it drags on and De Minaur is set to pounce, covering a -2.5 games line in victory.
De Minaur vs Vacherot Stats & Trends
- De Minaur is 19-3 in his last 22 matches vs players ranked outside the top 20 on clay (three defeats vs Nadal, Bublik & Fils)
- De Minaur is 11-3 vs players outside the top 20 in 2026
- Vacherot is 1-3 in tour-level quarter-finals, losing the last three
- De Minaur has seen Over 21.5 games in five of his last six matches
- Vacherot has seen Over 21.5 games in eight of his last nine matches
De Minaur vs Vacherot Head To Head
This will be the first career meeting between the pair.
Alex de Minaur Form Analysis
- 2026 Record: 14-5
- ATP Monte Carlo Record: 10-5
- Current Ranking: No. 6
- Career-High Ranking: No. 6 (2024)
De Minaur opened the season in strong fashion, reaching the Australian Open quarter-finals and claiming his 11th career title in Rotterdam.
However, his lead-in results to Monte Carlo were underwhelming. Early exits in Acapulco and Miami - losses to Patrick Kypson and Stefanos Tsitsipas - were sandwiched between a straight-sets defeat to Cameron Norrie in the Round of 32 at Indian Wells.
De Minaur responded in Monte Carlo by reversing that result against Norrie, but it was far from straightforward, grinding out a 7-6(5), 2-6, 6-2 win. The Aussie was then made to work hard against the rising Alexander Blockx, edging out the qualifier 7-5 7-6(4) to reach a third consecutive quarter-final in Monte Carlo.
That's the first time de Minaur has won back-to-back matches since his Rotterdam title run in February and he's now one win away from defending his semi-final points from last year and maintaining his No. 6 ranking.
Valentin Vacherot Form Analysis
- 2026 Record: 13-7
- ATP Monte Carlo Record: 4-3
- Current Ranking: No. 23
- Career-High Ranking: No. 23
Vacherot produced one of the most remarkable runs in recent memory to claim the Shanghai Masters title last season, and he has largely maintained that level since, arriving at his home event with a career-high ranking of No. 23 - and with this run to the quarter-finals, he's currently projected to rise to a live ranking of No. 19.
The 27-year-old has built a consistent campaign in 2026, reaching the quarter-finals in Adelaide and Acapulco, while also making the third round of the Australian Open and the fourth round in Miami.
Backed heavily by the home crowd in Monte Carlo, the Monégasque responded after a slow start to overturn Juan Manuel Cerúndolo in his opening match.
Vacherot closed emphatically, conceding just three games across the final two sets to seal a 5–7, 6–2, 6–1 victory. The next two rounds were just as challenging - Vacherot edged out last year's runner-up Lorenzo Musetti 7-6(6) 7-5 before recovering from a set down to conquer Hubert Hurkacz 6-7(4) 6-3 6-4.
Vacherot has spoken of his love for long, physical matches, with eight of his last nine now exceeding 21.5 games.
