Alex de Minaur vs Tomas Machac Tips, Prediction & Live Stream - Tough test for Demon in Monte Carlo opener
The anticipated match between Alex de Minaur and Tomas Machac in Monte Carlo challenges de Minaur, who has not been in top form recently, having lost four of his last eight matches. Although he reached the quarter-finals last year, the slower conditions may not favor him. Machac, on the other hand, comes in strong with 11 wins out of his last 12 matches, including capturing the ATP title in Acapulco. This will be their first meeting, and with Machac's current form, he could cause an upset in this exciting encounter.

After a great start to the season, de Minaur's form has dipped over the last couple of months, with the Aussie losing four of his last eight matches. Although de Minaur made the quarter-finals here last year, the slow conditions in Monte Carlo don't suit his game and he will struggle to hit through Machac, who is in brilliant form himself.
Indeed, Machac has won 11 of his last 12 completed matches, which includes a run to his maiden ATP title at the 500 event in Acapulco. The Czech conquered one of the best clay court players in the world in Sebastian Baez in his Monte Carlo opener, so he also has a match under his belt in these conditions. I think Machac is good value as the underdog here and I wouldn't be surprised if he gets the job done in straights either.
Head To Head
This will be the first career meeting between the pair.
Alex de Minaur Form
De Minaur arrives in Monte Carlo with a 17-6 record on the season, but he hasn't been performing at his best over the last few tournaments.
It was a great start to the season for de Minaur as he made the Australian Open quarter-finals for the first time before finishing runner-up to Carlos Alcaraz in Rotterdam.
However, the Aussie's form has dipped over the last couple of months, suffering defeats to the likes of Marin Cilic, Francisco Cerundolo and Matteo Berrettini.
De Minaur had chances to go on deep runs at both Indian Wells and Miami, but lost in straight sets to Cerundolo and Berrettini respectively.
The World No. 10 made the Monte Carlo quarter-finals last year, but he didn't face anyone higher than No. 26 in the world before going down in straights to Novak Djokovic.
Tomas Machac Form
Machac has been in outstanding form to start the season and comes into this encounter with a 15-5 record on the year.
The Czech's biggest obstacle has been his own body, with physical issues forcing him to retire from Indian Wells and subsequently withdraw from Miami.
Earlier, Machac captured his maiden ATP title in Acapulco, with his current run seeing him win 11 of his last 12 completed matches.
Machac produced a brilliant performance in his Monte Carlo opening round, coming from behind to beat Seb Baez 3-6 6-3 6-2.

Verdict
De Minaur has lost four of his last eight matches and the slow, high-bouncing conditions in Monte Carlo don't suit his game.
The Aussie hasn't beaten anyone ranked as high as Machac in his career at Monte Carlo, so the Czech - who has been on a brilliant sustained run of form - is backed for the 'upset'.
