Brisbane Roar have been struggling in the A-League for years now, but they should just about scrape past Sydney Olympic, who are anchored to the bottom of the NPL NSW ladder - I'm taking both teams to score in Belmore, with the Roar coming away on top.
The Roar have experienced a mix of early knockouts and deep runs throughout their Australia Cup history, suffering a R32 elimination in four of their opening five appearances before reaching the semi-finals in 2022 and finishing runner-up in 2023. Brisbane have failed to make it into the R32 the last two years after falling in the A-League playoffs, but are expected to advance into the R16 here.
Sydney Olympic are enduring a nightmare NPL NSW campaign and are currently rock bottom on the ladder, winning just five of their 25 games and in very real danger of suffering relegation. Olympic have never beaten an A-League club in the Australia Cup, with their best results coming all the way back in 2014 and 2015 when they made the R16.
So on current form and without much Australia Cup pedigree, it's tough to see Olympic pulling off the Cupset here. I think they can get on the scoresheet in Belmore, but it's Brisbane should should prove too strong in the end.

Michael Valkanis remains in charge, with Brisbane warming up for this Australia Cup with friendly wins over Caboolture (3-0) and Ipswich (5-0).
