In the highly anticipated NRL Round 4 clash, the New Zealand Warriors are expected to maintain their winning streak against the Wests Tigers. The Warriors have a track record of dominance, winning the last nine matches against the Tigers. With key player Luke Metcalf returning from injury, the Warriors are poised to enhance their already potent lineup. Meanwhile, the Tigers are grappling with injuries to crucial players such as Jarome Luai, which may hinder their performance. The prediction sees a comfortable win for the Warriors as they continue their impressive form.

New Zealand Warriors vs Wests Tigers, Round 4 2026 - Expert Prediction

The Warriors will stay on top of the NRL ladder with another comfortable victory over the Tigers who they have dominated over the last 10 years.
The Tigers will make the trip to Auckland undermanned with Jarome Luai out for a month and Adam Douhei under an injury crowd, while the Warriors get a major boost to the already clinical attack with Luke Metcalf returning from his ACL injury early.

Even without the team list news this was set up to be a one-sided contest with the Warriors defence back to its early days under Andrew Webster, while the Tigers attack was a flat as has been since Benji’s glory days, unable to crack the line of the Rabbitohs last week.

The Tigers have scored over 16.5 points against the Warriors just twice in their last 7 meetings and I don’t see them having enough creativity to break the New Zealand goal line more than twice in this match.

The Warriors will starve Wests of the ball and limit their possession and territory. They will do as they have done over their first three matches and run over their opponent in the second half and kick out to a handsome lead. Metcalf will control the field position and Tanah Boyd’s running game will go up another level.

Look out for Leka Halasima who will start in the second row. He is a try scoring machine and will attack the tired edges of the Tigers and find the line for the fifth straight match.

  • The Warriors have won 9 straight matches against the Wests Tigers
  • The Warriors have an average winning margin of 28 points this season.
  • Wests had 53 tackles inside Souths 20m last week, scoring just 2 tries.
  • Leka Halasima has scored 5 tries in his last 4 games, scoring in each match.

Head to Head

The Warriors have owned the Tigers since 2020 winning the last 9 straight contests. You would even need to go back to 2016 since the last time the Tigers beat the Warriors in New Zealand.

New Zealand won comfortably 34-14 at Go Media in Round 19 last season.

New Zealand Warriors Form Analysis

The Warriors are absolutely flying to start the 2026 and should only get better with the return of Luke Metcalf this weekend against the Tigers.

Three wins from three games and not grinding victories either, winning by an average margin of 28 points. It really is a Warriors team that we saw a couple of years back where their defence was the cornerstone of their success. Andrew Webster’s men can hold their line and the kicking game and running game of Tanah Boyd has been a highlight with the Warriors averaging just 12 points against while putting up 40.

All eyes will be on what Luke Metcalf will bring in his first game back after his ACL injury single.handedly derailed the Warriors season in 2025. Boyd will now shift to the No. 6 with Metcalf at halfback. Will this make the Warriors more potent or will it disrupt the chemistry?

Wests Tigers Form Analysis

Wests couldn’t do enough in attack to get past the Rabbitohs on the weekend, going down 20-16 on the Central Coast.

The Tigers had 54% of the possession and 66% of the territory with 53 tackles inside Souths 20m and only came up with just 2 tries. The injury to Jarome Luai didn’t help while Adam Douhei also struggled with his hamstring during the match, but the only real danger was the running game of Apisai Koroisau.

The major positive was the attitude in defence. The Tigers managed to shut down the left side attack of the Rabbits for most of the match and appear to have a better stronghold on defending their own line than they had last season.
