Both winless to start the year, this one was not easy to pull apart. The Gold Coast head into the match as slight favourites, due to home field advantage, but I see more upside in the three Dragons losses than I do of the Titans.

The titans have failed to create and do not look dangerous with the ball at all and are playing modern-day Titans footy and opening up their defensive line for their opponents to score at will.

I don’t see over 50 points in this match, which has only happened twice in the last 11 head to head games between the Dragons and Titans. Both teams' attack has been stale and even though the Titans defence is poor, the Dragons don’t have the class to put them away.

Gold Coast Titans Form Analysis

Not much doing for the Titans again in 2026 as they look to be set for another wooden spoon battle this season.

Three losses from 3 starts and conceding 98 points is not the start that new head coach Josh Hannay would have imagined things going. The Titans have also struggled to find any spark in attack, scoring 16 points or less in their opening three matches of the year.

The addition of Jayden Campbell obviously helps and had its moments last week in the Gold Coast’s 30-16 loss to the Cowboys, but there is not enough structure or danger on the outside and points will be an issue for the Titans all season.

St George Illawarra Dragons Form Analysis

The Dragons stayed within reach of Parramatta last week until the final 8 minutes of the match, going down to the Eels 30-20 after the late run away try by Josh Addo-Carr.

The loss to Parra was the Dragons third of the season, however, they were in all three of their matches until the final 20 mins, including the 46-20 loss to Melbourne.

Shane Flanagan has the troops doing plenty right, ranked fourth in the NRL with 1,819.7 run metres per game and even completing 79.8% of their sets, which is the sixth-highest in the league. The issue is creativity as their attack looks flat most of the time and is only creating 3.7 line breaks per game (15th in the NRL).
