Brisbane Broncos vs Dolphins NRL Round 4 Tips - Broncs back to their best

The Brisbane Broncos are expected to continue their winning streak against the Dolphins in Round 4 of the NRL 2026 season. Despite a shaky start, the Broncos bounced back with a strong win over Melbourne, indicating they're back in form post-Premiership. The Dolphins had an impressive victory over the Sharks but are still struggling with consistency. The Broncos have dominated past encounters, and Kotoni Staggs is likely to make a significant impact again. Expect a close game with fewer than 50 points scored.

Brisbane Broncos vs Dolphins, Round 4 2026 - Expert Prediction

Brisbane’s hangover is over and they will continue their reign as the best team in the river city getting up over their rivals the Dolphins.

The Broncos played their best half of footy in 2026 against Melbourne to avoid an 0-3 start which is what I believe is their first step to recovery after a heavy Premiership hangover with their victory over the Storm the perfect ‘hair of the dog’ to get their season on track.

The Dolphins had an impressive victory over the Sharks in Cronulla, but until there are some true signs of consistency out of Kristian Wolf’s side I will be hesitant to back them.

Brisbane have dominated this contest against the Dolphins and the line is kind due to their poor start to the season. They have covered the -3.5 in all of their victories over little brother and they will do it on Friday night.

Both teams have the ability to put up points, but if Brisbane are to return to their best footy they need to ensure that they hold the ball like they did against Melbourne in the second half and play the territory game. This has me leaning more towards the under, especially with the total being as high as 50.5 points.

Kotoni Staggs was the real game changer for the Broncos against Melbourne and if he carries in that fire against the Dolphins, who he often finds the line against, he will cross again at some stage in the match.

  • Brisbane have won by 6 points or more in all 5 of their victories over the Dolphins
  • Only once has the game total gone over 50 points in the 6 matches between the Broncos and Dolphins.
  • 4 of 6 matches involving the Dolphins and Brisbane in 2026 have gone under the 50.5 total.
  • Kotoni Staggs has 3 tries in his last 2 games against the Dolphins.

Head to Head

Brisbane have won 5 of the six matches against the Dolphins with an average winning margin of 9.2 points and no less than 6 points.

The Broncos won both matches last season, 20-12 and 38-28.

5 of the six matches played have gone under the game total.

Brisbane Broncos Form Analysis

Brisbane’s season was in dire straits, down 14-0 at halftime versus the Storm last Friday, facing their third consecutive loss, but a little magic Mag roughed the boys at halftime and they came back against the Storm, shutting out Melbourne in the second half and putting up 18 points.

Brisbane weren’t a different team than they had been for the first 5 halves of footy this season. Things just stuck. The Broncos completed 13 of 21 sets in the first 40min vs Melbourne then went 20/22 in the second. That was the difference. Their execution was better.

Brisbane are obviously as good as any team in the comp when they get it right like they did in the second half against the Storm. We will now see what the Broncos are all about, without the Premiership hangover.

Dolphins Form Analysis

Is it time to trust the Dolphins? Not yet, but they did look good against the Sharks last week, getting a rare win in NSW and at Shark Park of all places, beating Cronulla 38-10.

The outside backs of the Dolphins were clinical, racking up 117 run metres or more and all 5 being involved in line breaks or tries. Jack Averillo continues to be one of the most underrated players in the NRL, scoring twice while also running for 200 metres, the most of any Dolphin.

The fear for Kristian Wolf and the Dolphins is consistency. We have seen three different performances from the group in three games this season. Can they attack? Yes, better than any in the comp, on their day. Can they defend? Not as well, however, the last two weeks have shown positive signs.
