There was enough ability shown by Daring Prince in his jump-outs to suggest he could make an impact when stepping out for his debut at Geelong last month.

The gelding did plenty right on that occasion, finishing fourth despite beginning slowly and being ridden cold from a wide draw over 1347m.

He stayed on well in the straight, while the form has already received a boost with the eighth and ninth placegetters from that maiden both subsequently finishing in the top three.

Any downgrade caused by the forecast rain should pose no issue after Daring Prince handled a Soft 7 on debut, while barrier four gives him a much better starting point this time.

Luke Oliver’s four-year-old shaped as though the rise in distance would suit and, with natural improvement expected from his first race-day experience, he looks capable of breaking through at start two.

Brutify brings a strong recent profile into this contest, having finished in the top three in all four starts this preparation.

The five-year-old scored impressively by two lengths in testing conditions here three starts ago before again confirming her liking for Wodonga with a narrow runner-up finish at the track last time.

She raced prominently on that occasion in a Soft-track Benchmark 56 and any easing in the ground from the forecast rain should again be no concern.

Both of those Wodonga efforts came at this level, while the rise in distance looks manageable given her tactical versatility.

Chelsea Thompson has partnered the Jamie Edwards-trained mare in each of her past three starts and, from a suitable draw, the pair get every chance to record another win together.

Ironic Fortune showed his liking for Wodonga when breaking through over this distance two starts ago.

The gelding settled third from barrier four before holding on narrowly, with the Heavy conditions appearing to suit the son of Capitalist.

He then found a Benchmark 62 at Mornington too strong when finishing ninth-of-10 over 1200m, and that run is easy enough to forgive stepping back into softer company here.

The return to the shorter trip suits, while the drop to Benchmark 56 level is another clear positive and any rain would further strengthen his case.

Regular rider Stephen Brown Jr stays aboard and, with Ironic Fortune likely to settle just behind the speed, the pair have enough in their favour to be capable of causing an upset at bigger odds.
