Sandown Favourite - Race 2 No. 4 Gold Chariot

From a good family that includes Group 1 winners Tristalove and Viking Ruler is Gold Chariot.

The three-year-old was rolled as an odds-on favourite at start two before a spell, although he found only one better at Seymour and may simply have been looking for the paddock.

Two June jump-outs have followed, with the youngster winning his latest over 1200m at Cranbourne on a Heavy 10 surface.

His eye-catching debut second at Geelong remains strong form, having got back to an awkward position before charging home with the race's fastest closing sectionals behind Storm Leopard, who franked the form with two subsequent wins, the latest at Group 2 level.

The obvious query is fitness, with the set-up a tricky one, being first-up over a mile on wet ground, but he's prepared by a noted fresh stable and could have a class edge on what looks a pretty modest line-up.

Evergreen Turf Handicap Tips (Race 6)

Sandown Best Bet - Race 6 No. 12 Komito

We were with Komito at an each-way quote via his June 25 resumption at Bendigo.

While he had to settle for fourth-of-13, it was a strong return after being taken back from a wide draw, racing keenly and striking traffic at stages.

That 1500m effort indicated the rise to 1800m second-up will suit ideally, while he receives a massive 7kg drop in the weights for this metropolitan assignment, with talented apprentice Jabez Johnstone taking the ride.

There was enough to like throughout his first preparation, highlighted by a stylish second-up victory at Werribee before an end-of-preparation run when respected in the market for a Saturday three-year-old handicap at Caulfield.

Komito is still learning the caper, but he has his fair share of raw talent and can bring up win number two with any improvement from the fresh run.

Sandown Next Best Bet - Race 7 No. 1 Nearco Frod

Melbourne's leading rider this season is Craig Williams, and he remains aboard Nearco Frod after guiding him to his Australian breakthrough over 2400m on July 1.

The rise in distance clearly suited third-up, with the gelding settling outside the leader before proving too strong in the finish.

Empress of the Sun meets him better at the weights after that clash, although she enjoyed a softer run in transit and had every chance, while she is now much deeper into a spaced-out campaign.

There still appears to be upside with the OTI four-year-old, who was gelded after his first preparation with the McEvoys and now has a confidence booster under his belt.

The extra weight is the obvious query, but this race is certainly no harder than the one he won a fortnight ago.

Sportsbet Same Race Multi Handicap Tips (Race 8)

Sandown Value Bet - Race 8 No. 10 Supernima

The Moody & Coleman-trained galloper held his form deep into his previous campaign, which culminated with a Saturday BM84 victory at Flemington in January.

There was depth to that race, with runner-up Ndola winning two of his next three starts, including at Listed level, while Recon also won a Listed race before performing well in Group 1 company.

Returning to Benchmark 78 grade, he meets the talented fresh horse Touchdown, who is the one to beat, but Supernima brings race fitness and has improved with every run this preparation.

After covering ground fresh at Bendigo, his second-up effort at Caulfield was better than it reads, before again sticking on well behind Ten Commandments at Flemington after covering extra ground.

He handles all surfaces and looks a genuine each-way chance in the Sandown finale.
