Sportsbet Feed Hurdle Tips (Race 3)

Sandown Next Best Bet - Race 3 No. 6 Farag

The son of Sacred Falls has registered second-place finishes in all four previous starts over hurdles, including at Terang in June.

Farag was beaten less than a length by Normandy Bridge, who he reopposes here and the gelding is taken to reverse form with that rival, who pulled up at Hamilton last time.

His subsequent efforts have seen him suffer defeats at short odds, including when beaten a length over 3200m at Warrnambool early last month.

The eight-year-old went on to back that effort up with a defeat by just under one-and-a-half-lengths when placing third in a 3400m hurdle at Hamilton.

All three of those efforts came on heavy going and the slightly quicker underfoot conditions here are a positive for Aaron Purcell’s representative.

Will Gordon knows the gelding well and his mount looks capable of breaking through to register his first victory over hurdles, having won seven times on the flat.

Sandown Feature Bet - Race 4 No. 5 Highland Blaze

While the six-year-old lacks the flat class of some of his rivals here, he has been in good form of late over hurdles.

The gelding is the winner of three of his four starts over hurdles, with the sole defeat coming at the hands of The Cunning Fox over 3900m here at the start of June.

Highland Blaze meets that rival significantly better terms weight here and he arrives off the back of a length victory at Hamilton last month.

The son of Highland Reel stayed on strongly in the closing stages when racing over 3400m on heavy going that day and the extra distance here is expected to suit.

Shane Jackson’s representative had previously lost out by a narrow margin in a 3600m Benchmark 78 handicap and he has forecast underfoot conditions to suit.

Jordan Hart, aboard for all four of his previous hurdles outings, is again set to ride and his good form can continue.

Sandown Best Bet - Race 5 No. 2 Whistle Down

Symon Wilde’s representative has shown up well in three starts since finishing in mid-division over 2000m at Ballarat in March.

The mare was freshened following that effort and she returned to winning ways with a victory over the same distance at Warrnambool at the start of May.

Whistle Down was at Benchmark 64 level when racing on a Soft 7 track that day and she has performed well in placing at this venue in both subsequent outings.

A Benchmark 70 handicap second over this distance marked the first of those efforts, with the daughter of Zoustar proving that a sound surface is no issue that day.

She returned to a wet track when beaten less than a length from a double-figure barrier in a 2100m Benchmark 74 handicap here last month.

While the mare has been ridden from the front in her last two starts, she is a versatile type with regard to tactics and she looks capable of recording her third win of 2025.

Sandown Value Bet - Race 8 No. 13 Moor Mumm

The daughter of Astern showed good form earlier this prep, registering three consecutive third-place finishes.

Those efforts included a defeat by just over two lengths when contesting a 1200m Benchmark 64 handicap at Ballarat in May.

Moor Mumm stayed on nicely, having been ridden cold on a Soft 5 surface that day and she went on to fill the same position when beaten less than a length here next time.

That course effort saw her race from mid-division when contesting a 1400m Benchmark 64 handicap, however, she has failed to shine in two subsequent outings.

Moor Mumm arrives here on the back of a tenth-of-fourteen when contesting a 1400m Benchmark 68 handicap at Murray Bridge last month.

While Dan O’Sullivan’s representative failed to make an impact that day, she was beaten just three-and-a-half-lengths and the return to a wet track is a positive here.
