Sale Next Best Bet - Race 3 No. 2 Wonboyn

He appeared to have his chance on debut when well backed as runner-up in a Kilmore maiden, but there was still strong form through that March 6 event.

The winner, Man Of The Sea, subsequently placed in a Sandown BM64 behind a subsequent Listed winner, while the runner-up from that Sandown event was Saturday placed at Caulfield on May 30.

Wonboyn went one better when saluting at Yarra Valley on March 24, despite being a drifting favourite there, in a race that has produced three subsequent winners.

The son of Highland Reel resumes here off a Cranbourne trial on May 11 over 1000m, with Daniel Stackhouse engaged for this fresh assignment.

This does not appear an overly strong three-year-old event, and there still looks to be good upside with the youngster, who could move on to better things as a late three-year-old should he get through this 0-62.

Sale Best Bet - Race 4 No. 6 Thinkyahot

He lacked the change-up speed of the eventual winner, irrespective, although Thinkyahot was still held up at key stages in his Echuca resumption on May 23.

The son of So You Think recorded a third consecutive runner-up finish there, having backed up his Moe debut fifth in December with a pair of seconds before a break.

There was very good form through those country maidens over summer, having covered ground in a Seymour affair taken out by the talented Tarzing.

That form was subsequently franked at Geelong before Tarzing placed in Sydney, while the January 16 reference through Silver Bullet, who saluted last month at Pakenham before a competitive effort in a strong Mornington Guineas, is also good form.

The most recent return was his first attempt on rain-affected ground and he handled the Soft 7 surface, while a wide barrier at Sale is no knock given the inside lanes are often less favoured when rain affected.

Sale Value Bet - Race 6 No. 1 Capricorn Star

There has been good money for Capricorn Star in both attempts this campaign.

The first of those resulted in a third at Ballarat on May 10, a race taken out by Didn't Miss Many, who then almost completed a double at Caulfield before saluting at Sandown last Wednesday.

Gisella, the runner-up from that Ballarat BM66, was then second to the smart Brilliant Horizon, also last Wednesday.

Having resumed at 1400m, it appeared a strange move coming back to 1200m second-up on May 31, where she was left flat-footed in a race dominated by Ten Commandments.

Not only should the rise back to 1400m suit, but this is also a significant drop in grade, and she looks one of the main on-speed influences in the field, while her two attempts on Heavy tracks have produced a win and a second.

Sale Roughie - Race 7 No. 12 Keep Thinking

Although likely to come into his own in winter and furnish over longer distances, do not be surprised if there is sharp second-up improvement from Keep Thinking.

He was never in contention here fresh from a wide draw when ridden conservatively with 60kg, although there is an option to settle much closer to the speed this time from a kinder barrier.

The gelding had bone chips removed after his first campaign, having failed in a metro three-year-old affair last July.

However, he arrived there off a debut triumph at Pakenham when getting the better of Bring Forth, who is now a multiple metro winner, including a Saturday victory at Caulfield last month.

He is the least exposed runner in this field and potentially one of the few with genuine upside going forward, while the Jason Warren-trained galloper carries 2.5kg less than he did at his most recent fresh outing.
