Race 6 No. 7 Our Emmbar

The daughter of Dundeel has been in good form since returning from a short break with a second over 1243m in a Geelong maiden in December.

The selection broke through for her first win when saluting by nearly two lengths in a five-runner 1500m maiden at Mornington next time.

The four-year-old raced from the front that day and again raced prominently when finishing a good second in a Restricted 58 handicap over 1600m at Great Western subsequently.

Trained by Leon & Troy Corstens & Will Larkin the pick should have no issues with the softer going expected here having delivered creditable efforts on wet tracks earlier this season.

In form apprentice Stephanie Hateley takes a valuable three-kilograms off her back and she looks capable of partnering the selection to victory.

Next Best:

Race 3 No. 3 Flying Mean

Trainer Clinton McDonald has been in good form in recent weeks with the handler boasting a 50% strike-rate (4/8) with his runners so far in February.

The trainer’s sole runner on the card has plenty of experienced having placed in five of his eight previous starts including twice last prep.

The four-year-old has shown good form on wet tracks including at metro level when placing third at Moonee Valley when encountering a soft 5 surface back in November 2023.

The pick also managed to place on the forecast soft going when runner-up over 1000m in a maiden contest at Cranbourne in May last year.

The gelding has been off the track since disappointing at Bendigo and he is taken to break through for his first win following a couple of solid efforts in Cranbourne jumpout contests.

Market Mover:

Race 8 No. 4 Kokako

Lloyd Kennewell & Lucy Yeoman’s filly made the perfect start to her career when winning earlier this season and punters have latched on to her in the finale.

The four-year-old was $2.90 when markets opened with EliteBet and Kokado is now priced at $2.35.

The daughter of Swiss Ace’s had a subsequent dual winner back in third when debuting with a Geelong win over 1340m in September.

Ethan Brown’s mount boasts an inside alley here and is fancied by punters to get the better of her more experienced rivals.

Stats Say:

Jockey Jamie Mott boasts a 19% strike-rate (51/266) when riding at country meetings in the state this season.

The rider looks to hold a strong book of rides including in the opener with his mount Hey Bella expected to jump a short-priced favourite.

Mott’s rides in the third Elizabass, fifth Flashbang and finale Baby Hazel all look to hold strong claims while he is also set to ride debutant Stars And Spangles for Danny O’Brien in the second.
